When I was a nipper the contestants on University Challenge looked clever. As soon as you laid eyes on them you could tell they were very clever. Nowadays the contestants look like any other person in the street. Any thoughts?

The Oregon Trail.
Does anyone remember that? About 80s I think and it's not even listed on TV Cream. Nothing much really happened. Just a load of people heading north in wagons.

Bamber Gascoigne
"Have to hurry you" always sounded FAR more polite than Jeremy Paxman's irritable "Oh, come on" [I know it's a mixed 'Hear and See', but not many postings here lately and I agree with Spinks's post about the students looking clever "when I wor a lad"]

We were just talking about cigarettes. There was a make called Consulate and IIRC Kim. Can you still get these?

I had to get some stuff for the tuck shop and I did see some sweet cigarrettes and consulates in the cash and carry though I thought neither were appropriate.
I havent seen a finger of foudge for ages though.

Consulate are menthol cigarettes, and are still available AFAIK. Kim were specifically designed and marketed as girl's cigarettes, and seem to have been withdrawn from the UK market.

I wonder why those chose 'Kim' and what other names were on the shortlist. Anyone for a Janet?
