Do you really believe that he had his "skin stripped" to be white? Oh dear. Not to be rude, but maybe you need to stop reading papers for a while? Have you ever seen black kids with vitaligo (sp?)
So it's OK to criticise people with mental illnesses because they refuse help? How do you know he has refused help? Are you aware that people with mental illnesses often can't ASK for help?
Double standards all around!!

Tabitca Posted Feb 3, 2003
I have not only seen vitilago i have treated people who have it..MJ does not. I also treat people with personality disorders which MJ appears to have. I have picked up the pieces of people who have been damaged by his "image" who don't have the advantages of his money and fame that is why I see things differently from you. So we shall agree to disagree.

Saturnine Posted Feb 3, 2003
Right.
Being that you don't know MJ, would it be fair to say that you don't actually know what is wrong with him?

creachy Posted Feb 3, 2003
just skim read a few of the posts and i have to agree with saturnine. it is not fair of anybody to judge another based on what we know from what the mind controlling media tell us. MJ appears a bit weird in his thoughts and some of his actions but the guy has to live an unbelievably sheltered life just to crap in private!
the baby dangling incident was, i accept, quite irresponsible. but how many times do you see doting parents throw their babies up in the air then catch them. that too seems just as irresponsible to me. and lets face it, being as rich as he is i am surprised he hasn't had more accusations against him to get that lucrative 'settlement' such is the sad state of human greed.

Are we really trying to have a fight about, of all things, Michael Jackson??
Enough, I'm going to bed.
Michael Jackson
Saturnine Posted Feb 3, 2003
Was that a statement Clive?
Back on topic. I'm sure I'm not wrong. I could be. But I'm sure I'm not.

I watched the documentary Martin Bashir made. All I'm saying is that I noticed at the end I had physically moved away from the TV screen whilst viewing.

Doesn't he usually make people come across very well? he did the Princess Diana interview..
Michael Jackson
egon Posted Feb 4, 2003
To be honest i found the Princess Diana interview the most nauseatingly simpering, vomit-inducingly staged and incomprehensibly hypocritical bit of journalism I've seen on the BBC to date.
Michael Jackson
creachy Posted Feb 4, 2003
i didn't see that but he appeared a bit boring and monotone to me tonight. maybe i should watch more of his stuff.
Michael Jackson
Z Posted Feb 4, 2003
No don't, he also did an interview with the *alledged* murders of Stephen Lawrence.

Saturnine Posted Feb 4, 2003
I think ti was an excellent interview. It's just MJ has a life that most people can't accomadate in their minds. I too found myself getting uncomfortable at the end. But then, that's because I can't quite understand someone who is stuck in a pre-sexual mind. I have the same reaction with other people who have certain mental problems...unfortunately. It's not something I like about myself may I add, and I try to change my mindset as best I can...

Mister Matty Posted Feb 4, 2003
He seemed slightly hostile to Jackson's persona generally, although he did the interviews well and wasn't too confrontational.
It was an interesting documentary (although I only saw the last 50 mins or so). Jacko came across as likeable a few times (particularly when he was dealing with his fans in Germany) but the Neverland stuff with the kids gave me the creeps. He does seem a pretty screwed-up person and it annoyed me that he was so blase about what people would think about him sharing a room with children.

*applauds saturnine*
no need to change. you have identified your own problem and take it into account before passing judgement, but this should be on another thread, possibly entitled 'if you'd like to take a seat on my couch...'

What annoys me about this, is that people think that despite having a mental disorder - which he clearly has, but I don't think it is particularly damaging to anyone but himself - individuals have the ability of insight. Look in any medical journal, and you will notice a huge use of that word. Some people in the mental illness spectrum have insight into how they apply to real life, others don't.
Michael Jackson
Saturnine Posted Feb 4, 2003
I think it's relevant, as it explains my way of seeing things. I'm not about to claim to be 100% open minded. I'm still human, after all.

"Some people in the mental illness spectrum have insight into how they apply to real life, others don't"
This is very true - many people with mental illnesses are aware that they are mentally ill and of the nature of their mental illness.

The whole baby dangling issue is a complete non story. The very people knocking him for this will be letting their kids ride in cars with no seat belts, subject them to passive smoking, smack them, let them ride their bikes with no lights on, etc, you see it every day and don't bat an eyelid but as soon as MJ does it it's the most newsworthy story for that day.
From what the media shows us, MJ seems completely booloo (I've taped the programme, not seen it yet). I don't know the bloke, but I'll tell you this, if I had his wealth I'd be completely off the rails, If not dead. The constant crap you have to put up with, people invading your personal space 24/7 would drive me insane.
And in my opinion, that's just the way it will, and should stay. The music buying public and the media own MJ, we gave him his money, he gives us his life, simple as.
If a celeb wants the lifestyle, then they know what they are letting themselves in for. It's just a shame for MJ as he is probably the most extreem example of stardom, and it will be with him to his dying day.
I'm going to attempt to moonwalk in the blanket of snow outside now
