I see your point. But like I said, start a thread elsewhere about it (I suggest *Picking up and damning Saturnine for all her posting flaws* as a subject line) and we can talk. Whining because a bunch of fundamentalist Christians don't like you, and someone being actively persecuted by the media and social services because they think you are abusing children and you have a mental disorder, are vastly different things in my book. Could be wrong, but then like everyone else, I am entitled to my opinion.

You were talking about not liking the use of the word looney due to its being discriminative, and it was this I was comparing to your dismissal of discrimination based on somebody's belief as a persecution complex, sorry if that was not clear. I agree that this has nothing to do with "someone being actively persecuted by the media and social services because they think you are abusing children and you have a mental disorder" so I am surprised to see you link them.
Advertising a clickable online petition to prevent your group being discriminated against (through being excluded from using council facilities available to everyone else) on the grounds of your faith is hardly 'Whining because a bunch of fundamentalist Christians don't like you'.

I agree. And if you go back and find that thread, you'll see I last posted to it quite a few months ago.
So the information leveyed against me is a bit out of date. No one bothered to ask me if my opinion had bloody changed on the topic, did they? No. I flamed on that thread, and I damn well know it. Did you ask me for an update on that issue? Errr. No.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Feb 9, 2003
"I still stand by my opinion. Persecution complex" Doesn't sound like you have changed your mind...
Did you apologise to the researcher? Fair enough if you did - her feelings were hurt and the fact that it was a month or two ago makes no difference to that.
Anyway, enough of this. We all have our moments when we speak rashly, even me

Saturnine Posted Feb 9, 2003
I've changed my mind about how I presented my opinion. I still believe there was and still is a persecution complex within pagan circles. But that is aside from the point. I was rude, and I was flaming. However, I see no reason to apologise, seeing that people have made up their minds about me based on one thread...which is something I never do. If you do not like me, then don't pay any attention to me. I don't have a huge number of friends on this site just out of chance. I don't *mean* to offend people all the time. I just happen to speak my mind a lot more than I edit myself. I'll always apologise to someone if I have inadvertedly hurt their feelings - within reason though.
Anyway. This is offtopic. I shouldn't have to justify myself. People should come and talk to me more if they want to find out who I am.

I shouldn't have to justify myself.
But you require anyone who wants to have a discussion with you to. Double standards once again.

Darn. Not awake yet. Add the words themselves in there.

Saturnine Posted Feb 9, 2003
No wait.
Strike that, it came out wrong.
I shouldn't have to justify myself, just my opinions.
B****r. I can't be bothered. If you disagree so intensely, and believe that it is to walk around calling people with obvious mental disorders, as well as different lifestyles, names and the suchlike, then fine. If not then that's good.

Back to MJ - I just remembered a few years ago Oprah did a very long interview which showed him in a much better light...but then I was only about 13 so it might be I was a little bit more easily convinced
I'm very surprised that they haven't been showing the old footage alongside the new.
Michael Jackson
Saturnine Posted Feb 9, 2003
Maybe they'll re-show it sometime??? Sounds about the right time to do so. I know I would watch it.

PQ Posted Feb 9, 2003
As I remember it showed MJ in an extremely good light - Oprah was a much better interviewer than Bashir - she wasn't trying to get scandal she was trying to figure him out and at the same time make him comfortable and cummunicative...Bashir seemed too confrontational, you could almost see MJ shut down and get defensive.
I don't think it's ever been repeated and it was before the child abuse case came out so it was quite a long time ago...Bubbles was in part of it

Saturnine Posted Feb 9, 2003
Oprah does tend to have her *own* slant on things too. She is an excellent interviewer, I agree. But... she has a bit of a "lets hug and the world will be a better place" approach. She wouldn't bring up anything too controversial would she?

I found it intresting that he bought two vases on his shopping spree for just shy of $1/2 million, and then enquiring if he'd actually bought them yet, then later spends an entire evening at a charity auction and raises $16000 for an old jacket.
Another intresting insight was when a female German fan stuck her head into the side door of his people carrier
Fan : "Micheal ! Can I have a hug ?"
*Gorillas let fan into car*
MJ (muttering) "You can have more than that"
Priceless !
Like everyone else seems to think, I started off feeling sorry for him, especially when he goes to Vegas, gets bored and drives an electric invalid carriage around the hotel for fun. But by the end I was cringing when he was rattling on about children.
He knows what people fear, when the young boy who'd recovered from cancer mentioned he'd slept in Micheals bed, Jackson immediately pointed out he had slept on the floor.
He's got his own children now, can't he just spend time with them ?
Apart from the whole child messy thing, I enjoyed the programme, I'd always imagined him as a frail shadow of his former self, from this show and the anniversary concert that was also re-run it's clear to see he is still the entertainer he always was. His Sony contract is up in a years time, so this could start to get intresting.
Like I said in an earlier post, if I had his kind of money, I'm sure I would have turned out a lot worse.

""I'll always apologise to someone if I have inadvertedly hurt their feelings - within reason though.""
Classic belief held by a verbally abusive personality.
Verbal abusers think they have the *right to decide* what is hurtful to others. Verbal abusers have poor boundaries. Abusers debate the feelings of others.
The person *hurt* is the only one whom decides that.
Feelings are NOT to be held up for debate!
A blatant wake-up call. Abuse is insidious.
Insidious- having a gradual and cumulative effect

Well, the rumour is that he's in Vegas.
Maybe he's occupying a whole floor in another hotel.
