How can anyone believe in astrology

How can any in the 21st century possibly believe in astrology?
how can they believe that the future can be told by the position of the stars?
It would be interesting to know what percentage of predictions come true.
I don't mean general predictions which can be read in the horoscope page of any newspaper, much of which will almost certain come true at some time, and which anyone with no claim what so ever to mystic power could predict i.e. you are going on a journey
Sooner or later nearly every one will.
But personal predictions for which you pay an astrologer
I would be very suppressed if the percentage of accurate predictions are more than about one percent and when they are correct it is nothing what so ever to do with any power which the astrologer, might think they have but pure coinicedence
Astrology like all forms of fortune telling is absolute nonsense with no validity what so ever,it belongs to the past

THe problem with your idea is that no-one actually believes in astrology, they just buy horoscopes to have some fun and don't take it seriously!

'how can they believe that the future can be told by the position of the stars?'
Nobody believes that, not even astrologers. The stars have nothing to do with it.

I am SO surprised that people are so sceptical about astrology. Every day in the quality newspapers some kind astrologer shares his or her gift with the masses, which in turn determines the outcome of their future by the movement of a planet some million miles away. Then, they offer the reader the chance to know MORE about their destiny by ringing a helpful telephone number (£1.50 per minute, calls average 2 minutes maximum. Please ask bill payer before calling.) THAT is why people believe in Astronomy!

Astrology isn't about predicting the future as such - more how the positions of the planets affect your own personal combination of birth sign.

Ohhh...thats a bit cynical isn't it? Are you saying that astrologers only do their job for monetary gain???

Asking why people believe any specific ludicrous thing is fairly pointless.
You can make up virtually anything you like and someone, somewhere, will believe it.
If it's something that appears to offer hope or guidance, a rather large number of people may believe it.

Its more like the weather. Meterologist people look at different aspects of climate/atmosphere/temperature, and through the way things are changing, are able to predict how this will affect the land beneath it. That's what astrology is...the planets moving through the signs have certain effects on the people below. If that makes sense. Whether or not you choose to believe that the effect is real or not, is up to you...however, people do seem to have personality traits that correspond with their combination of birth sign (sun/moon/venus/mars)...

Whats so wrong with making money from it? If done properly, it's still a job that takes time and effort. They deserve the cash a lot more than the Royal family do...
