Ooerr! I think it's more a case of 'great minds think alike' rah rah blah, than anything else. Especially given that most of the people I know of our generation wouldn't know context if you hit 'em over the head with it.

So why, when a post is hidden by the moderators because someone's been racist or something stupid like that, don't they just remove the whole post rather than leave a big fat chunk of space taken up by a message saying there used to be something there?

Yep, I think its continunity like with resurchers not being able to completely close their accounts; lots of posts would result with no name as hte resurcher...
