Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron

Treason is already codified in American and Georgian law. The act of making war on one's own country is almost universally held to be a criminal act.

Governor-Elect Perdue promised to put the flag issue to a vote. He didn't promise to restore it. The major problem was the way Governor Barnes forced the issue regardless of how the people of Georgia felt.

As far as I know, the Chechen Congress planned nothing more subversive in Denmark than meeting to discuss Chechen affairs. I don't think there was ever any suggestion that it was a terrorist organisation, although it seems that people who might be associated with terrorism (innocent or guilty) were there.

The American response during Hiroshima was also that of implacable emnity towards the Japanese. If I were Japanese and didn't care for the way the shogunate stopped my country cold from the Meiji modernization, I might have been indifferent about the war before then, but not after.

Interestingly enough, my dad patrolled the Ginza not very long after the surrender, and he reports the Japanese weren't the slightest bit hostile to him.

Whether the Palestinian response was particular to them or not, they certainly were showing that they didn't consider us even slightly neutral. Now, they are finding out what happens when we are their enemies.

I apologize Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron, I was being fanciful in order to see what the Danes might think if it weren't Russia in question, but the United States.

I seriously doubt that the citizens of the Unitedstatian state of Georgia will revolt. There *may* even be a few Georgians who want the stars and bars who aren't racist.

What is this thread mutating intosmiley - doh

Sakajev has been imprisoned another 14 days (12 by now), and Vanessa Redgrave is still trying to help his case, by attending press conferences and giving interviews. The minister of justice says, that what the russians has presented of evidence at this time, is insufficient to exdradite him, and the russians say that that is all the prove Denmark will see....so it´s avery weird situation indeed.

I don't think we should extradite him, if what he has done is not a crime in Denmark. If he is simply a political prisoner, we should not let the Russians have him.

The chechnya congress seeks to succeed from Russia in violation of it's laws. They should never have been allowed to meet in the first place. Any legitemacy they may have had went out the window when they resorted to terrorist acts to promote their cause.

If the extradition has not happened already, I don't think it's going to.

This saturday the deadline ran out for Russia. Our Foreign Minister had given them untill then to come up with some better reasons why he should be extradited. But Russia hasn't given anything new, they just say what they have given is enough.

Today, tuesday, Sakajev was set free, as the evidence the russians delivered was not enough to extradite him. Witnesses has been iterviewed after the arrest about things that happened up to 7 years ago, and Sakajev had no legal representation in russia to counterask them. It was also unclear, wether it was firsthand experiences or hearsay in the statements.

Russia, of course, is furious and has stated that Denmark apparently have a differenr view on "war on terrorism", than the rest of the world. There´s been no official reaction from Putin at this time (03:43CET).

Sakajev might apply for political asylum in Denmark, says hes lawyer.

The Danish Foreign Minister did not wish to comment much on the Russian fury - but one thing he did say was that it was important to understand that in Denmark, the government is not above the law and that it is vital in today's world that the fight against terrorism, important as it is, does not lead to widespread violation of the individual's rights.

Personally, I am quite content living in a country where you cannot be sentenced on evidence gathered weeks after the arrest order...!

Well, some...

According to a Danish newspaper, one of the people Sakajev was accused of killing actually in another document was witnessing against him.... Now that's a whole new line of police work, isn't it?
