Angus's replacement?
GreyDesk Posted Oct 18, 2003
So how old is he? I remember thinking he looked pretty ancient when he was a Liberal MP back in the 70s.

According to his biog:
"he (Clement Freud) applied to join the Navy but was called up in 1942 by the Army."
So he'd be 18 ish then = born 1924 ish = now 79 ish.
Liked Jack Dee, as usual.

Have we all lost interest?
If this idea of having guest hosts is indeed a kind of selection process for a permanent host, then this series seems to be equivalent to a final interview, in as much as they seem to have weeded out the "novelty" hosts like Bruce Forsyth and, of course, Boris...
I'm increasingly warming to the idea of having Alexander Armstrong as regular host.

Apparently the repeat tonight is unusually an extended cut. Apparently there were bits they where loathed to cut out.

Thanks for the reminder - just set up the video.
I found John Humphries a bit disappointing, but the chap last week wasn't too bad.

Just saw it, dunno who he is but thought he was good, one of the better shows! Phil Jupitus was good on the panel as well

Ah, the old "That's except for viewers in Scotland" rule works in my favour for once! I'm taping the extended version as we speak...

This makes up for years of having programmes I wanted to see replaced by documentaries about fishing in Gaelic.

can't see how it could have been extended because of specifc bits, as my TV listing, bought on Tuesday, had it specified as a longer version - therefore printed before filming - I think the BBC just had a 15 minute gap they needed filling

Certain newspapers reported several weeks ago that Alexander Armstrong had been chosen as the permanent host. A shame, if it's true, as I thought on last week's evidence that he was too much of an Angus clone, but with a charisma bypass.
