I've just read an email sent to me about 6 more holes in IE

Sometimes I wonder why we bother to keep up with IE patches - there are so many of them it's like each new one adds four more holes, but only fixes one of them.

Where I'm from even newbies will look at you funny if you don't use a firewall. Healthy paranoia has been systematicaly spread through the country.

I know lynx, I knew someone *loved* lynx, but what's different about W3?

its better...

it uses pretty colours & it shows the alt text & long description of images and it seems to run faster on netBSD.

Textonly doesn't do it for me. I prefer turning off pictures in my browser.

I found a good hosting place that offers free subdomains last night. They support cgi as well

I wonder if it gets moderated (I'm not advertising, I promise)

How do people feel about browsers that act as a front for MSIE smiley - huh

e.g.
Neoplanet http://www.neoplanet.com/
Crazy Browser http://www.crazybrowser.com/
Webview pro http://www.webviewpro.com/
Activator Desk http://www.activatordesk.com/

and finally the AOL browser (although to be fair they are awitching to a Mozilla based browser in future releases (Mac OS X release already Mozilla based)).

Actually, HappyDude, they're not so much acting as front ends for MSIE as for Windows Explorer; in recent releases of Windows all the HTTP: protocols and HTML rendering have been built into Windows Explorer, so MS couldn't be forced to remove them if they weren't allowed to ship IE as standard any more. Nowadays, like the browsers you listed, IE is just a user interface that sits on top of Windows Explorer. smiley - geeksmiley - erm

smiley - biggrinsmiley - ok

I'm rather hoping that eventually the rendering engines will converge, so that one day you will be able to select the renderer seperately from the user interface, and "mix'n'match" your own browser... smiley - winkeye
