Should you have been born in a different age?
Phryne- 'Best Suppurating Actress' Posted Dec 19, 2002
any of the following:
15th century so I could distrbute favours, and you've got to love those gowns... not too poor that I'd be plagueridden, but not too courtly that I had to behave.
1890s so I could be discovered by a Pre-Raphaelite brother and go on to be shared round all of them, continuing as a decadent hanger-on and inspiring absintheandmadness-tinged poetry.
20s so I could shock the world with my powdered knees.
However I think now is a fine time to be alive.

Marylin M. was not yet born in the 30's. She was a "star" late 50's and early 60's

When was she born then? Because I thought she was born in the late thirties. She would HAVE to be born then in order to spend her twenties in stardom in the 50's/60's...would she not? 30 + 20 = 50!

I'd think you'd want to skip the "Great Depression" years.

I'm old enough to have worn miniskirts AND caftans the first time round. I don't think being born later cuts you out of it. I still wear caftans for long distance plane travel and parties where I think there won't be enough chairs and I'll have to sit on the floor.
I wouldn't have wanted to be born any other time - I've had a wonderful life. By Chinese standards it finishes in March, when I get to start again. So I hope miniskirts are fashionable again in 2022

I would have liked to be born about 5 to 10 years earlier so that I could have been old enough to go to early Beatles concerts & be a hippy. I did wear mini skirts & flares first time round & not keen to do that again!
On the other hand, I would also like to have been born more recently so I could have got into computer games & the internet when younger.
But generally I'm pretty happy with the age I am.

The problem with this is... you aren't answering the question... It's not about where you would like to be born (because you can't guarantee if you would take the path that you find attractive now) but whether you feel like you SHOULD have been born in another time...

Ah, like feeling out of place in the here & now & more of an affinity with another era.
Nope, I think I fit in OK now!

I don't even have to think about this- I would LOVE to have been the age I am now in the sixties.
Flower power, love peace and acid, Woodstock and Glastonbury done properly, just the whole free love attitude...
Bring on the biker smiley for Reefgirl and the hippy smiley for Bebel!!!

On one hand I think it would be *easier* to have been born in an earlier age. There were more rules to live by, everyone had their place. My ambition in life is still to settle down, raise a family, and keep a house. Yet I'm still doing a degree, and I keep on being forced to think about what I'm going to be doing as a career. Don't know. On one hand, the choice to be equal is not a thing to be given away lightly, but on the other hand, I'm female. Was I born to do those things? *Is* the old sexism right? We may not be inferior, but do we have different places in the world and workplace?

I'd *love* to have been a kept woman. The stigma that feminism put on that dream has ruined me. I just want to be married, have a nice house to clean, and have some babies. I can make that interesting...it wouldn't be such a bad thing. Of course it would have to be the right man, but that isn't always a hard thing these days - the male species has come along quite nicely...

i don't think it's so much a different time as a different reality that i'd want....

I'm happy in this one. Things could be a lot worse for me. But then, I haven't lived for that long...

I'm happy that I can wear trousers I guess...
Would still have preferred to be around in the 40's/50's/60's though...the fashion...
