2 cloth, reusable supermarket bags
TV guide for a friend in hospital
last years telephone book to put in the car
pair of leather driving gloves (need to take them out as it's not winter anymore and I haven't worn them for ages)
2 ball point pens
change purse (empty except for 2 wahsing machine tokens)
wallet (cards of various kinds - credit, charge, membership, loyalty; drivers licence; $15 cash; receipts)
peppermint tea bags
a lollipop
scullcap and hypericum tinctures; flower essence; homeopathic arnica tablets
paper napkins
2 more pens (that's where they all are!)
printout from an online tarot reading
notebook (with lists for the library, secondhand shops, opshops, videos etc)
an envelope with some phone numbers on it
a voucher for $5 off the next film I get developped, and another for a free video hire
When I go to town I add a bottle of water and my shopping lists

I can't believe this thread has been revived after 2 and a half years.
I have cleaned out and changed my handbag several times since, and am most pleased with a new acquisition which easily gets lost in it: an mp3 player. With changeable cards, so I can have unlimited listening in a gadget smaller than a mobile phone.

In my work bag I have;
Two sets of keys,
pocket pack of tissues,
wet wipes,
mobile phone,
mini radio,
pen,
pencil,
cupa soup,
multi whatsit pen knife,
brush,
three purses!,
a pair of hand warmers,
leather gloves,
diary,
paracetamol,
eye drops,
plasters,
hand cream,
pro plus tablets,
tiny bottle of hand soap,
mini deoderant.
