whatever happened to Quantam Leap?

I remember seeing the last episode. I was a huge fan of Quantam Leap and was a fantastic example of good 80s science fiction.

Doing a quick google I discovered that there is an alternate ending. Originally there was due to be a follow on season, apparently, with Sam now leaping as himself. You can find a script transcript of it here; http://www.sethargabright.com/qleap/mialtend.htm I'm not sure if I like the idea in this cliffhanger myself, I think I prefer the actual ending.

I loved QL too.
Especially when Sam was himself at 16, and tried to stop his broither going off to Vietnam where he would be killed.
He played "Imagine" to his little sister on the guitar.
He saved his brother in the next episode, I think
Dean Stockwell who played Al, just guest starred in "Enterprise" as an alien.
When Cap'n Archer {Scott Bakula} was dragged before him, I expected the alien to say "You look familiar"
The ending was very good.
I remember the caption saying Dr Becket never returned home.
It was a better ending than the Sliders one.
Whatever happened to Sliders?

Well this sparked me to look over the internet on GOOGLE and about half an hour ago I saw an artice from January saying that there might be a TV movie or next series after the end of Star Trek, as Scott Bakula is now a big star again picking up after that episode. I cant find that article again!!
What you could do then is broadcast the final episode Mirror Image and use the origional ending then show the next episode.

I don't know, I like the ending of QL as it stands. And it wouldn't be the same if Sam didn't "become" other people.
As to Sliders, I've only seen scattered episodes, but I liked what I saw. From what I have read it was just badly handled by the network/producers whoever and it just sort of died a death.

I was curious as to whether Quantum Leap was, or had ever been, available on video in the UK. According to a check on blackstar, about 10 episodes (5 2-episode videos) plus the pilot episode *were* available over here, but they were 'deleted' in 1994. However, 8 2-episode videos, plus the pilot episode, are still available in the US - see amazon for details. So, if your VCR gives NTSC playback on a PAL TV, what are you waiting for?

There is also a CD of music from the series, including Scott Bakula singing 'Imagine'. This CD is not currently available over here. In fact, it was released in the States around 1994. If we ever had it over here, it has long since been 'deleted'. I wish I knew somebody in the States who could get these things for me, as shipping costs from there to here are prohibitive. Besides, I don't have (and don't want!) a credit card.

The CD soundtrack is available to order from Amazon for £13.99.

I guess that's what happens when you only check HMV for CDs!

QL was on retail video in the UK in the mid-90's, but they have indeed been deleted. DVD is really only a matter of time, though.

Maybe, and maybe not. They didn't release that many episodes on video (maybe one series' worth), so how likely are they to release them all on DVD. And, based on blackstar (which is pretty comprehensive when it comes to videos that are or were available), we didn't get every video over here to begin with. So I'm not holding my breath.

They might release the first series on a "see how it goes" basis, at which point we will just have to convince everyone we know to buy them, so that the rest come out.

There was definately some videos available because I have one - can't rememebr which because its back at my parents but it only had two episodes on.
I'm also a proud owner of the QL book of everything (or something like that) a list of all the episodes etc etc for the first few series.

There are a couple of videos available on universal-playback dot com. If we were in the US there are lots available on yahoo shopping.

Just read (for those who care) that Quantum Leap is being reprised and repackaged.
The pilot for the new show will be shot sometime later this year without Scott Bakula. They are going to start from the beginning with a different leaper, possibly a woman (how f***ing millennial, yuk). Not sure if Dean Stockwell is having anything to do with it.
Sounds like a rum idea to me but some people I'm sure will be excited about it.

Waa ... ... ... umm ... could be interesting. I suppose there is nothing to stop there being more leapers, but you would have thought after loosing one you wouldn't send a second. Still, makes me even more annoyed they won't bring back Dr. Who.

You cant do Quantum Leap without Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, to do a whole new cast would just undermine everything about the TV series.
Bring back Bakula!!

And how do they expect a 'woman' to take over. Sorry but I just couldn't see it in a million years.
