Short-Lived Series and Sitcoms

Quick note on Glam Metal Detectives...not half bad. Featured the genius that is Phil Cornwell, who these days is known for being Michael Caine, Jimmy Hill and Mick Jagger on Stella Street.
Anyone remember KYTV with Angus Deayton-it was like a phony satellite channel (they held a Brown Nose Day?)
What about My Two Dads? With that bloke out of Aliens and Mad About You? (Paul Reiser I believe he is known as.)
OR Wild Palms? (Twin Peaks wannabe from the mid-90s. Dabbled in phony mythology surrounding Virtual Reality and starred Fred Savages brother-pre Boy Meets World.)
ORRR Blossom? Big nosed girl with ex-drug addict brother and another brother who looked like a melted Tony Danza.
And can anybody help me with the title for this...Sitcom about a young Tennis Ace and her coach...was shown on Channel 4 before the Cosby Show back in the heady-meddy days of the mid-90s. Whoever remembers the show and its title wins a bottle of meths courtesy of aonemantidalwave....

My Two Dads ran into two series (if I recall correctly)
Blossom - the one with the big nose and many, many hats ran into several series.
KYTV - I forgot all about that!
How many series did SuperGran run for?
Liam.

My Two Dads actually ran longer, I just like name checking it.
As for Supergran...I believe that little swine had a 2 season batting average. Billy Connolly was in an episode when he fell in love with Super Gran and asked her to marry him...viewing it is as embarrassing as it sounds.
I also remember a childrens BBC show that was originally from "down under" called Top Mates...that ran for one episode.
And while I'm here does anyone remember Round The Bend? It was done by the Spitting Image team but it was for kids. It was set down a sewer and was kind of like a living comic book (they did spoofs like Thunderpants and WEE-Man...geddit?!)

There was some comedy programme set in roman (or prehistoric) times. I think Tony Robinson was in it, but can't remember the name, how long it ran for, or even whether it was any good.
Regarding Nightingales, it seems there are quite a few fans here - maybe we should start a campaign to get it released on video or DVD, or shown (like many other old programmes) in their middle-of-the-night repeat section.?
Do any of the nonterrestrial C4-related channels do repeats of old programmes.

Are you thinking of Maid Marian and her Merry Men? That had Tony Robinson in it...and the bloke out of the old Lean Cuisine adverts.
My mate reckons that Nightingales sums up England for him in every way...I don't concur but I'll support your campaign anyway, maybe we could press for the DVD releases of Super-Gran and "Benji, Zac and the Alien Prince".
Such sweet memories.

It also had Rory McGrath in it. Seem to remember thinking it was funny at the time.

Oooh this is such fun! Yes Chelmsford 123 was hilarious, and it had everybody in it - Tony Robinson, as we've already said, that fat bloke off of ... oh, you know, and whatisname who wrote all the music for those comedy shows, Philip something... Pope! And the gingery bloke who was in...er...let me think....something with a woman. On telly it was.

KYTV as I recall was a TV version of an old radio 4 comedy series called Radio Active - certainly they repeated some old Radio Active jokes in it at the very least.
It was still funny though
Wasn't the tennis thing just called Coach? Or was that something else

Is anything with Rory McGrath in it capable of being funny? I rather thought that was a contradiction in terms...

Was the ginger one Jimmy Melville?
I said I thought it was funny at the time. When I was a young 'un I thought all sorts of things were funny - poo for example. Nowadays I would think most of those thing are just s**t.
I also liked Shakin' Stevens when I was young. Getting older has some benefits!

What about Sport Billy? Does anybody remember that gem? It was a cartoon from the 80s. The Billster was a soccer genius who was hated by this evil witch who wanted to snaggle Billys powers.Good Stuff!
And that Tennis thing wasn't called Coach-that was another sitcom shown late night by ITV...came on just before American Gladiators as I recall...

I saw Shakin' Stevens on TV the other week...it was an appearance on Top of the Pops around Christmas time-Shaky was wearing a hideous jumper and miming terribly.
Key: Complain about this post
