Asteroid threat!
Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Jun 24, 2002
The female members of my family insist on having that mindless dribble on every day (at least, that's how it seems). The horror! THE HORROR!!
Perhaps we can set up a mail order:
[Customer] Hello? Could I have an asteroid strike in Blackpool please?
[Operator] Certainly sir. Would you like the large lump of rock model? Or perhaps the Iron Ore model? Very popular in the States this time of year...

I just heard apparently Saddam Hussain is trying to develop asteroids of his own, how long will we ignore this menace. Following bombing raids in both Iraq and Afganistan large areas of what used to be towns and farmland were found to be barren lumps of rock - evidence that what was destroyed was not a primary school and yohurt weaving co-operative as reported on al-Jezeera, but is par of madman Sadam's astroid building program, thwarted by our coallition allies. Surely now we must allow the US free reign to, well, just free reign basically, so we can live free of this terror.

Give them free reign? You mean free reign to blow the feth out of half the planet?

Half? No we should let them do what they want. After all we all love democracy don't we?

Looking up "Democracy" in the New Oxford Dictionary (interim editor D. Rumsfeld):
Democracy (n); giving the US free reign to do what ever they like, even if that means blowing up everything.

I prefer the victorian version;
Democracy (n); giving people the power to make their own descisions, provided Great Britain approves.

I think the victorian version sounds very much like the present one. America believes that they should bring democracy to all countries(wether they want it or not) which means they vote on who they want for a leader. If they choose the wrong one, America will either tell them to vote again or replace him with a military dictator. Untill they have democratically elected the one America wants to be in charge of their country.

Maybe it was better when the people in charge where the ones with the big sword who'd slice your head off if you didn't like it...
Bush'd be out of a job, that's for sure.

In fairness, I like to think that the Victorian British were a little more honest about it all.
If they didn't like you/your government/your religion, you soon knew about it because thousands of blokes in red coats camped out on your front lawn.
The Americans pay your neighbours to tunnel under your house whilev they build the extension for you.

At least back then people were honest. They didn't claim you had a choice, or that the reason they wanted to tell you what you can and cannot do or say was to ensure your freedom.

Shame it didn't work across the pond... If it had, we may be living in a world run by people, not corporations (we're looking at you, Microsoft! ).

I don't want to be a party-pooper but there's a place for this anti-American ranting. It's called the "What's wrong with American's?" thread. Can we get back to the original subject matter?

CMaster Posted Jun 25, 2002
Where is this thread?
Hmm, how about we let the americans or some doomsday clutists do what they want to the world - then the asteroid threat won't matter any more.
