Chicago, 9pm. The temperature's dropped from 32 to 21 C in a just over an hour, so we've developed a fairly frisky thunderstorm. 50mph wind, large hail, and a sky the color of pea soup. Hope we don't lose power (losing the a/c during a 30+ heat always sucks), also hoping we won't have any tornadoes!
It's going to be another hot one tomorrow, but should cool off to just 30-ish by Sunday.
To make the degree symbol I usually use ALT + 1076, but it doesn't work on my laptop, which I'm using because of the power surges (if it surges much more, it'll be a moot point when the modem loses power ).

What a stonking start to the day, clear blue and not a cloud to be seen. Was a beautiful sun rise with a brilliant orange cast on the horizon, slight dew on the car window screen but was bracing to be up so early, birds now quite after there 3.40 dawn chorus. Can not beat it especially if watched with a hot .

Well, last night's 2" diameter hailstones took out the windshield of the car, but no tornadoes, at least.
Currently 24°C in Chicago, which is cooler than it is in the house. 80% humidity, forecast high of 36°C (42°C with heat index), and another thunderstorm or two (though not as wild as yesterday's).

Lanzarote
29 °C
Partly Cloudy with a gently breeze from the North.
The high temperatures (40C + ) for the last week or so seem to be lowering, and the thick calima of sand from the Sahara still makes everywhere look hazy and dirty, just as lapislazuli reports.

Much less dust today, and the breeze/temperature combination is much more pleasant than yesterday's weather, however, it's early. Let's see what the rest of the day brings.

Sunday, 3 July, 2011, 8:55 am, Coachella Valley. I almost can't believe it. It just started raining. Only the second time since I made my permanent residence here, back in 1987 that I've seen it rain in July, here in the desert. The first time was last year in the third week of July. Probably an issue of climate change.
Looking forward, projecting the trend, September may be unusually tempestuous this year.

As you can see from the 3 mile visibility, the dust has really died down.
The humidity's low too which makes all the difference.
The Coachella Valley poster with 37C+100% humidity will tell you how much humidity can be uncomfortable! We get killer temperature/humidity combinations too at times, but so far this summer we haven't been affected too much. Later summer usually brings the higher humidity readings.

Gorgeous here in Chicago- currently sunny, 27°C, breezy. Today's high is expected to be only around 30°C, which is more "normal" for this time of year.
When we went out yesterday morning, I noticed all my pansies had died- they couldn't have dried up with all the rain we've had, so they must not do well with hot weather.
But at least we don't have dust! (Or those giant palmetto beetles my dad gets this time of year...)

As you may be able to see, Bahrain being an island usually (but not always) has a higher humidity rating than Dhahran.
Went shopping in Manama and noticed the slightly higher humidity (nothing to cause discomfort).

Perris Valley, California: First there was low altitude, mid-afternoon, monsoonal haze, then lightning, then thunder, then it rained again today, a rather substantial cloudburst that forced some businesses to close early, very unusual weather for July in southern California.

Last few days as been a mixed bag of baking sunshine and impressive showers. Lower level cloud base as been mixed and fast to develop whilst the higher attitude clouds seem to have been effected by an active jet stream, planes that usual fly overhead on predicted flight paths seemed to have flown lower than normal as there has been no vapour trails Humidity has remained high but today has got a much fresher feel. Sky is mainly cloudy, fast moving clouds set against a hazy background sky.
