Cloudy day with some bright intervals in the afternoon, as well as a short shower. I do not mind minus temperatures as long as the sky is clear and there is a good amount of frost and a bonus a good fall of snow, at least four feet of snow so I can make a , if there is anymore I am even happier, I can only dream. The temperature is a bland 9°C and the wind speeds are 5 mph SW.

Foggy and cloudy morning, slowing brightening up with sunshine for half an hour from14:00 then it started to become foggy again. The top temperature has been 4° and it is still foggy. No wind to move the fog.

Overcast and misty, the temperature is 5°C but feels more like 2°C. The wind speeds are 10 mph S. We are currently under low pressure and the weather is unsettled, I would rather have a high pressure with colder temperatures and it means it will be more settled.

Cold, but not as brutal as Minnestota! Jaysus! Hope you're staying indoors as much as possible today, NorthernGal.

Chicago- currently -4°F / -20°C. Wind chill isn't nice, though- when I got in to work at 6 this morning, wind chill was around -40°F (-40°C).

They actually closed some of the outstate rural schools due to cold. The buses won't start and they are afraid children waiting for them will get frostbite.

Some areas in the northern part of state reporting -40F. Don't know why my ancestors chose to settle in this Godforsaken tundra! Of course, we forget the cold come May, summers are heavenly.

Some of my family- my grandmother's generation- settled in the Alexandria/ St Paul area and I thought their winters were bad, as a kid. We rarely get *that* cold, excluding wind chills.

Summers, on the other hand, can be oppressively humid.

People complain no matter what. I just do my best to roll with it.

I'm glad that some schools there were closed so that the children can stay safe and warm. I got frostbite on my toes when I was young (waiting for a ride home from school in wet socks and boots) and to this day my toes go numb in very cold weather, and frequently hurt regardless of the weather.

I grew up in the northern part of the state, on Lake Superior, and the summers there are gorgeous.

As to humid summers, some truth to that, but our 10,000 lakes make it much more bearable No better excuse for a jump in the lake, with no need for a sauna.

I've experiences bits of summer on Lake Superior, and with the exception of one (spent in Ironwodd, MI, 4th of July weekend 2001, 105°F in the shade), they were indeed gorgeous! And such a beautiful lake, too.

-15°F/ -26°C in Chicago today. A bit colder with wind chill, but at that point, does it matter?

Early rain between 06:00 and 07:00, then it has been dull and dry ever since. The temperature now is 7°C but feels more like 4°C. The wind speeds are 10 mph SSW. I hope this low pressure will end and that we will get settled cold weather at least there would be clear skies.

Overnight rain with thunder which I did not hear, very little cloud to start off with but it gradually built up and y 14:00 it was completely cloudy. When it was not cloudy there was a good amount of sunshine. The temperature is 8°C but feels like 5°C, and the wind speeds are 10 mph SSW.

Much, much warmer today in Chicago 17°F/ -8°C. We ventured out to buy groceries and it was nice not having to wear gloves/hat/scarf, etc.

Winds of 50 mph last night with patchy rain. This morning partly cloudy skies and sunshine. The temperature now is 6°C but feels like 2°C. I wonder when we are going to have proper winter temperatures. The wind speeds are 25 mph WSW.
