h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Greetings from Dublin, Ireland. It's 11.45am on Monday 2nd February. There were a couple of inches of snow overnight and early this morning but it's cleared up now. There are still plenty of snow-laden clouds overhead but the sun is managing to shine through intermittently.

By the way, reason I'm in Dublin right now is because all flights to London are up the creek because of the snowy conditions there. Currently it seems like there is a flight I can get on to Gatwick, but then all the trains from Gatwick to London are suspended, so I might be better off staying here!

Cloudy skies with a few snow flurries in the morning and lunchtime.. There is about 6-7 inches of snow . The temperature is -1°C but feels like -6°C. The wind speeds are 11 mph NNE.

Cambridge, UK.

The snow from yesterday has settled, about 5 inchs. Overnight a bit has seemingly turned to 'slush'. But not that* much as there really isn't much traffic about today on the roads or pavements.

About half an hour ago it really started snowing quite heavily and that is definately settling again.

All the advice from the railway people is 'don't travel', and some of the towns taxi/cab firms are not opperating. bugger.

Over the weekend we finally made it above freezing. Yippee, a heatwave!!

Back into the severe cold by mid-week. Ugh.

Nara japan 8:45 am, Glad we don't get the snow here, Yesterday was a nice T shirt thin sweater day outside ,I managed to work outside most of the day, looks like today's starting the same way, they do say we may get rain later , high today will be 51 f, should go out and pick some rabbit food , Dandelions look really tasty at this time of year, thistles are growing well too

Overnight temperatures of -7°C. Partly cloudy skies and sunshine. There has not been any more snow that I know of . The temperature now is -1°C. The wind speeds are 3 mph NE.

Looks loverly and sunny here in Cambridge UK Today... not been outside yet, but I'd hazzard a guess its quite a bit warmer than it were yesterday as I've just nudged the heating down as it was feeling a bit 'warm'
However, depsite the more clement weather the work I was ment to be doing in London has been posponed as the railways are still messgd up; mainly due to a lot of trains starting the day at the wrong end of the country, and also because I think some of the main lonond stations are still not running full steam... I think the snow here has all but gone maybe hanging on a bit in the shade in a few spots... Sounds a little 'slushy', or watery on the roads as I hear cars parsing by...

East Sussex 3rd Feb

Yesterday it snowed most of the day, I'm hazarding a 3-4 inches guess. Caused school closures and rail disruption. Today it's been bright for much of the day and melted quite a bit but still deep on my grass.

Hoping it doesn't all freeze to an ice rink tonight

Nara Japan 10:30 am, Well we did have quite a bit of rain yesterday but it finished early enough to have thick fog most of the night ,nice blue sky now and about 42 f on the deck, no wind so it feels nice, going up to 50f later, think I might try to get a bit more work done out there a bit later

Hi from London on Wednesday February 4th at 09.45. It's a bright clear sunny day here in London. There's still plenty of snow lying around, but it's quite a pleasant day so far. It's very cold though. The current temperature is around 2c but it feels like a few degrees below freezing.

its snowing again in braintree essex, unsure of the temperature but i don't think it much above -1.

Here in London it's very grey and overcast and raining. It's a tad milder than the last couple of days - the temperature is definitely above freezing and with the rain too, hopefully it will clear the ice and packed snow from the pavements.

My street, which has very little traffic, is still like a skating rink, but hopefully by the afternoon it will be clear again.

upto last night, i had at least 12 inches of in places, now with more overnight, its about 14 or 15 inches.from what i can see outside on the cctv cam, the street is still showing plenty

It snowed again on top of the snow we already had my puppy won't go out I don't know how deep it is on our garden but lots of plants are covered. The road out front is clear thanx to the gritters though the snow on the paths has just got really compacted my guessing is that will take some time to go unless we get lots of rain. It has warmed up a bit as I can hear snow on the conservatory roof sliding away and making a thudding noise on the other snow in the garden.

We're used to it snowing and then going the next day, not this time. We need rain and we don't usually ask for that!

Nara Japan 2 :35 pm Another sunny day but a little windy today 50 f ,we are not expecting rain until next tuesday ,then only a little.
