It's sunny and hot....again! I'd trade my cats for some rain, it's been so long. Well, maybe not...
I live on the wrong side of the rain shadow -- just 30 miles to the North of me, on the other side of the mountains, it rained, hailed and flooded yesterday.

Having seen the news on Florida I don't think I will whinge about the cold, wet weekend we have just had. At least our roof is still on and all the trees are standing. It must be such a nightmare living through a Hurricane/cyclone/typhoon.

Living in a tornado/hurricane zone is not fun, no.
I grew up at one end of "Tornado Alley" a swath running from Texas and Oklahoma in the south to Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan in the North. I remember hearing the tornado warning sirens in the middle of the night as a kid. NOT recommended for a good night's sleep; closest a tornado ever got to my home was about 15 miles away though, so I was lucky.
In a side note, have all our Florida researchers checked in? I hope they're all okay.

Dublin : Has been raining steadily for the last 5 hours at least. Looks like tonights match at Lansdowne road will be called off which is a pain as I have tickets

Yes, so do I! But I should not complain. We have had a respite from the eternal heat in the Northeast of Brazil, the temperatures rarely go above 26°C these days and when we are very lucky, we have 23°C which is pure heaven and this month with lots of wind. Reminds me of Europe.

Today has been largely dry and very warm with clear blue skies, although we have had two or three torrential downpours. Still, I can cope with this sort of rain - most of our rain, thunder and lightening has come at night and when it does rain during the day, it is gorgeous and sunny again within about half an hour.

Thunder, heavy rain and a little chilly compared to the weather of late. Got caught in a shower on the way home from work. Annoying. Now sitting in listening to the rain on the skylights loving that sound!

After weeks and weeks of hot, dry weather our fire fighters in the interior are welcoming the pouring rain. Still about 15C or so though and next week or the following it's supposed to clear up, just in time for school for the wee ones!
