Oh indeed. I make no claims for English football. On a good day we can beat anyone in the world. On a bad day we can concede goals to sides like the Faroe Islands and lose to Norway...
Although both those events are now ancient history.

Oh, so can we... I'm just hoping for a repeat performance of 98 where we played excellent games after the qualifying round

Ah but sometimes the result is more important than the performance

you have my sympathy.
Nay nay nay!
Go away!
I'm not bothered by football (although living opposite Fratton Park has made me more hostile) but I do object to having it rammed down my throat at every god-given opportunity. Even the flipping Honey Monster's at it: everyone knows he wouldn't play football when there's homes to destroy....

You live opposite Fratton Park? Well I'll give you a wave the next time the Blades travelling army turns up to smash Pompey

The shocks and surprises keep rolling on
Italy are 1-0 down against Mexico who are so far the better side
So a good chance another of the fancied sides is on its way home.

But of course just as we thought the Italians were on their way home the gallant boys from Ecuador ride to the rescue and go 1 up against Croatia pushing Italy back into the qualification spot

Ross Posted Jun 13, 2002
Ah well it was good while it lasted but at least Ecuador got a win but a draw for Italy was enough to send them through to the next round

Great result for Japan and Belgium earlier to book their places in the second round.
Currently it is Poland 2 USA 0 & Portugal 0 South Korea 0 but Portugal are down to 10 men
Sadly with the exit of France and Argentina it looks like its going to be Brazils cup again
