I should have said, mine is basically a modern version of the roman philosopher Sennica (spelling?) who postualted that pessimists are happier as when bad things happen they have expected it and when good things happen it is a pleasent surprise.

It's not a defeatist motto at all(like one friend thought) but a positive one, don't stop doing things because you may fail - failure is part of life, live with it and move on.

You're quite right though,I think failure can be a positive thing,as if we didnt have failure..wed have no mistakes to learn from!

My Life motto is, 'People generally are so busy with what they are doing that they never notice when you make a mistake.'

Boring cliché I know but I always say "Life's too short". Another one I use quite alot is "Pessimists are never disappointed"
