I'm not really sure if I dream in colour or b&w..I think it is in colour, but could that be my usual sensory perceptions playing tricks on me? However, I am usually able to control my dreams, and in a sense know that I am dreaming. I can always tell when something horrible or weird is going to happen as I get what I call the surreal dream feeling, which feels a bit like 'reality' coming into your dream, as though someone or thing from the waking world is in your dream. Not that you are dreaming about it but that it is really there.
I don't think I am really explaining this correctly
Anyhow, whenever something nasty happens (such as I am in terrible danger, or someone has a scary face,) then I change it. Often in dreams when I am going to get killed, it gets to the point where I am about to be shot/stabbed/whatever, then the dream repeats itself until I can find a way to outwit or kill my enemy.

I think it's something that can be learned, with enough effort.

I know what you mean. A while back there was a history channel show. Night terrors nothing like bad dreams. Night terrors the subject is in waken state the percentage of General populace that is affected by this is less than 10'. Well atleast I kmow I'm not alone. Who know's I might research it . and enter it, they are really strange I would reconmend them to anybody. On the show it was implied there could a demonic at work. Sure fell that way to me.

The other night I had a very strange dream about a six-legged bunny...
Too much watching of Buffy the Vampire Slayer I think.

You know those Night Terror Thingies, just remember those are the only dreams(Big ? Mark) with sound. Weird huh. The documentary implied they were'nt dreams. I'm inclined to agree.
Well don't have 'em much any more.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Feb 17, 2002
Colour - yes
Sound - hmmm... voices yes, but not other sounds...
Realising that I'm dreaming - only a couple of times
Nightmares - if I wake up in the middle of one, I can't go to sleep again immediately, because then it'll continue...
3rd person - this is something that annoys me - sometimes I'm moved out of the action and degraded to a mere spectator - watching myself acting...
Flying - has anybody dreamt about flying? I do, but very seldom, unfortunately. It's a wonderful feeling, but it's a spontaneous thing, I can't do it on demand... I just lean slightly forward and float up on the air...
And computer games definitely mess up my dreams - I think Duke Nuke'm was the worst one so far - when I actually started to look at ventilation gratings in RL, wondering where they'd lead to if I were to kick them in - that's when I decided it was time for a loooong break...

At the moment, I keep having these nightmares where people set me on fire. Did I mention that being burned to death is my least favourite way of dying?
This is probably not a good thing...

It would seem that Titania and my thingies are simular I've had same conditons.Especially the going back into the same dream.
To Emily I knew a girl named Emily when I was younger. I'm no dream interpeter, but I would say that your subconous Can't spell it would be telling you there's something you need to do. It's probaly been on your mind.
Or then again your fears arebeing displayed in your dream state.
Like I said just your adverage bloke.

Well, I slept badly last night for some reason. Sort of dozed the entire night, but I definitely dreamed while thinking all the time "I'm not really asleep yet". The dreams were drifting into and away from the lucid state as well, so maybe that's the key - sleep badly.
I don't recommend it.

Great Western Lettuce (no.51) Just cut down the fags instead Posted Feb 18, 2002
I know this is possibly highly irrelevant to most of this thread, but I could do with getting it off my chest, so I hope no-one minds too much.
It's just I had this dream last night where I met up with a girl who I used to fancy like mad about 5 years ago, but because of my own ineptitude it failed to materialise into anything. I met her in a dream last night and we talked and it felt really great to be with her and talk, just like it was a few years ago.
The problem was, when I woke up this morning, the memory of this dream left me feeling so depressed and lonely. It was bloody horrible. I think I'd take a nightmare over a dream like that, which was good at the time, and then leaves you feeling empty and s**t afterwards.
Thanks for your time.

That's quite odd, GWL. Recently I've had several dreams where I've met my ex. I really loved him, and we were together for a long time but we had a bizarre break-up; I had stayed the night at his house after a friend's birthday, and everything seemed fine until his mother called him down (we were both 17 at the time - don't worry ). Ten minutes later he came back upstairs and dumped me. End of story. I spoke to him once after that, and it was made plain by all concerned that he never wanted to see me again. So far, so good. But I keep having these dreams where we are friends again and he apologises for being such a b*****d. Wishful thinking, perhaps?

Its not irrelevant, as I`ve had the same experience, many times. A girl I used to know, a long time ago, but frequently re-appearing in dreams. I loved these girls/women very much (there was more than one. ouch!) All when I was young (and covered by a short space in time) though - inexperienced and dumb to let these lovely people slip through my fingers. There is much pain on awakening to find it was only a dream but i wouldnt give up the pleasure of seeing them again, even if only in dreams. My time frame is much longer than yours, maybe, if its only been five years you could find her and try again?

Thank you both. It is very comforting to know that I'm not the only one who is blatantly torturing myself over mistakes made in days gone by. Never mind, one day I could bump into her again. It's nice to have your support, I appreciate it . I don't know about getting in touch again though, she has put her name on Friends reunited (as we both went to College together) but now lives miles away.
I agree though, it is the great thing about dreams, that you can still see the people who you cared about a long time ago, who you don't get the chance to see any more.
It's just reminded me that my Grandad appeared in a dream the other night as well, and he's been dead for nearly 10 years. He gave me some advice that I can't remember, but it was fantastic to see him again.

I've also had dreams in which I was visited by my grandparents - deeply soothing, and often with messages of love for other people. (In the last one, my grandmother was using her initiative and was sitting down to do the ironing - I'd never seen her do that... I was just pleased she was more comfortable!) But I lost my grandparents nearly 20 years ago, so I don't think there is a limit to the length of time before they stop visiting your dreams.
But I'm not sleeping well at the moment, so I'm missing out on enjoyable dreams. Oh, well, at least no nightmares for the moment.
