I agree alex The endless filling was well done too.
The Standing News made me feel motion-sick though.

Breaking news, a new strain of Bird Flu, specific to chickens at the moment has just crossed over the road.
Experts are dumbfounded as to just why this happened...

I have to say I liked RVS news as well, I think that one was a mick-take of BBC news.

Oh no, scientists now believe that the tomato flu strain 10CC is the version which has mutated to cross the road with a chicken, as yet they can offer no explination to why the chicken flu crossed the road.... concernes over the 10~CC version mutating again are high, and it is feared that an extremely virylent KLF mutation of the 10CC may be able to infect clubbers...

I too thought the scrolling headlines were a very good touch. The rest of it was OK.
I did like the stock exchange quotes/listings.
Although I had to wonder though quite how close to the truth it was. I could almost see The War on Terror being listed as a means to raise money. It is an enterprise, it has a pay off (in oil) and the share value would fluctuate according to how it was going.
Whaddaya reckon, think it could work?
Although putting it on right before the news at 10 might have been a bit of a mistake.

I knew that tomatoes were evil.
I used to watch Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes.

A very smart accurate parody of national and local news. And having the deliciously sexy Claudia Christian on was a bonus.
Was it funny? Well, yes, if like me you absolutely can not stand the false, dumbed down, style over substance presentation of 'the news' these days.
All the little nuances that are now so much part of news broadcasting that people do not notice were in there.
I hope that the news broadcasters and their image consultants watch it and realise how annoying and flat their presenting is these days and they change it. However, it is more likely that they will see it as more of a tribute and keep it going.

Has anyone noticed that this thread is almost entirely without sense? Although 2legs' posts seem the easiest to understand.

Well it had global, national, local, weather, traffic, business and showbiz...
I think we need another Nighthoover fan cull!!!

*Almost* entirely? You mean someone posted something sensible?
*Sigh* There's always one, isn't there ... ?

I liked it. I particularly like the celebrity/film interviewer fawning over that woman - who WAS she? Given that the show has a cast of 145 - literally - I didn't think I had much chance of spotting individual names in the cast. So I checked IMDb. Their cast list... two names. One of them was Claudia Christian. Surprise...
It was, though, very, very reminiscent of "The Day Today", which lest we forget was well over ten years ago. The main difference was its acknowledgment of the multichannel environment - but TDT even did that, to a limited extent. Who could forget "RokTV" and the inimitable (well you try it...) Harfen Teuport and the delicious Suki Bapswent.

That bit was so similar to 'Talking Movies' on BBC World it uncanny - I suspect there are a few noses out of joint now

Hmmm - I suspect Alfster is right, that they see it as more of a tribute: The Day Today, Brasseye, Alan Partridge, all sharp and damning critiques of particular forms of TV that went on to become even *more* insane.

The 'Standing Up News' was an expected, but quite well done, bit as well.
I wonder how long this one'll stay? Over the years there have been some very good news based comedy shows.
Anyone else remember KYTV?

Aahhhhh yesh, the KYTV 15 strain of the virion particle origional 10CC version of the n o n t o m a t o virus, which was found in Manchester affecting tomatos in pre packed sandwichs, If I remember correctly, it was this strain that mutated into the fatal u2 version of teh virion, which itself was transmographied into the KLF virion when it gained the extra cellular receptor which enabled it to infect non n o n t o m a t o s the extracellular portion of the virion encoded for by teh mutation encapsulated both a CCR5 and CD4 + receptor enableing its binding to and ultimately, through conformational changed in the virions structure, its ability to inject virion RNA into the cytoplasm of the host cell, Viral RNA being replicated to Viral DNA which then self-splices itself into the host cells chromosome, before DNA replication occurs, producing more copies of the viral RNADNA copy. This then, itself is translated to RNA copys in host cell cytoplasm, which are packed into segments of host cell membrane, contianing the viral receptor proteins, and these then bud off from the host cell, producing new viral particles. Of course, what we all fear is the mutation that may occur resulting in a strain, lettuce call it the 'ELO' strain, which could cause the globel pandemic we all fear

KYTV! Yes, that was a cracker. Only problem was it was lampooning something hardly anyone had seen, kind of by definition.
I did love their tagline - "You'll never get stuck with KY Telly".
Think about it...

KYTV was orignally RadioActive - on the radio, surprisingly. I think they still play radioactive on radio7 if you have access to the digital channels.
I found KYTV a little disappointing as they didn't think up too many new jokes unfortunately. If you'd heard RadioActive then you'd heard half the jokes before

It is reminiscent of The Day Today. I think there is a subtle difference: TDT took swipes at how the media twisted the subject matter, The new programme takes swipes just how they present the subject matter. They are using wacky subjects but for me the main thrust of it is to show how homogenised and identikit and dumbed down news presenting is these days.
The difference is enough to make it stand up on its own.
It also reminds me of Max Ma ma ma max He-he-head-roo-roo-room blipverts. Here we have blipnews for people with the attention span of...ooo..its dinner time.
