its hard to stop doing something you like even thought its counterproductive is one of lifes paradoxies. kind of like trying to remove a loose tooth its hard to actually cause the pain to yourself to get rid of it but it hurts when its there. personally i insult hard people until they hit me in the face that gets rid of the tooth 80% of the time.

hummm, you and drink definately dont mix and i think you should try to curtail your habbit at least a little or you may end up one sad, loney alcoholic, you seem nice otherwise, i am not saying give it up, just dont consume large quantities

Do you think it is possible for somebody to be unable to love? Maybe that's part of my problem. There's actually only been two girls in my life that I've been more than physically interested in. And also I've been away from Denmark for almost 2 years now, and I haven't really at any point missed anybody. I wish my friends were around, but that they're not doesn't really bother me that much. It just seems a bit disturbing, I had expected I would feel some sort of longing for home.

You're trying too hard.

And lonly heart: When I was your age (I assume you're the other side of 20 to me - or thereabouts) I had a boyfriend who would get helplessly drunk. It was disgusting, unmanly and not attractive. If you know you can't take it - and that's not something you can learn - then leave it. It's far more masculine and impressive to say "No" and drink Coke than to throw up all over the place and end up a grovelling heap under the table.

So for your own sake, for your career, for your future, for your love life and for lots of other things that I will leave out because I don't want to sound like a mum - rather like the girl I was 30 years ago, watching the boys .... find an alternative.

Get high on conversation with girls, flirting, silly, serious or just friendly. It's just as addictive and can have some nice side-effects.

Girls will prefer someone who talks to them rather than stands over by the bar, drowning the sorrows they can't possibly have at your age. Apart from which, they will get the idea that they might be the cause of your sorrow - and girls want to cheer you up and be your whole motivation for living - so that's not a good idea. You're right. It's counter-productive. Damn right it is. In more ways than one.

Still, you realise all this, so I won't tell you any more along those lines. All you have to work on now is your self-esteem. You're probably looking for confidence and personality in those bottles. It's not there - it's inside you, waiting to grow and it needs feeding on good-natured banter with girls and other people. Don't forget your own sex. A girl will be more interested in someone who has friends and gets on with people generally. And not someone who she could drink under the table if she wanted to.

As for regards health and such, I think it was good advice to lonely heart. But personally I get the feeling women find guys who get drunk and throw up, a lot more manly than those who don't drink. I don't quite get the reasoning behind it. But sitting and drinking coke while everybody else is downing tequilas certainly hasn't endeared any girls to me. More made me the butt of a few jokes.

i totally agree, you have just got to be yourself and then others will endear to you, as my nan says 'there is a pot for evey lid' there will be lots of women who find you attractive if you are just, well, you!

Also, it depends on where your trying to pick up girls. Some girls are impressed by people who get blind drunk and fall over, so avoid those and go for a nice girl. Perhaps a Swedish girl (i just always think that they're nice.

Pah, I drink lots, everyone in the metal scene does... I do go out and not drink sometimes, as well(very rarely). I still dont pull...

I have the same problem as Lucky I'm a nice girl looking for a nice man, who will listen when I talk and talk while I listen.

If I found out he was a p*ss head after a few dates he'd get the boot.

I've worked as a barmaid and nothing scares me more than alcoholics.

If you can't stop the OTT boozing, {I'm talking to the lad who was unfaithful 3 times in one evening} then I suggest you take a good long look at a current photo of George Best.

My problem is not finding nice friendly girls is that all the girls I know nice, friendly, good looking and all have boy friends arrgghh
