Where can I find some nice friendly girls?
badger party tony party green party Posted Jul 29, 2003
One of the greatest compliments I was ever paid came after an ex had given me "Its over" speech. Needing a smll pick me up I opted for my "drug of choice" gallows humour and made some cheap joke about her dumping me. She scowled and said "karl you're such a child" turned and walked away forever. I was infact genuinely upset but I guess I spent too much time in that and other relationships in the eyes of my ex's atleast not taking other peoples concerns too seriously.
Spike Milligan makes jokes about WWII, Chris Morris did a whole spoof documentary about paedophillia. Thats some of the kind of stuff that makes me laugh, but expressing this irreverance can really up set some more sensitive souls.
After one painful break-up I heard this song by Beth Orton.
"I want to sit and talk and laugh with you as the day ends
I want to see you smilling before the new day begins
You'll never know just what it means to see the sunlight in your hair
Dancing everywhere.
I wanna shout about it but I keep quiet about it
I wanna laugh about it but I dont joke about it
I wanna live without it but I cant do with out it"
This is a lesson it seems Corinth could have done well to learn knowing this has certainly helped me out a lot lately.
Often when Im with Liz some "witty" remark will spring to mind but I will apply the Liz filter and save it for when Im with the boys. She knows what my sense of humour is like but I understand that she does'nt appreciate some of its mirkier corners.

I agree, I don't expect everybody to listen to the more foul side of my humour.
I think that reverting back to more self works better at weekends than in work

I dunno, I think it was VV said she didn;t expect me to be clean cut. Clean cut? Ne'er been called that before!
Ah well, all compliments and I suppose I should learn both how to accept them and also to believe them
Starting to realise that maybe what my friends liked about me was the fact I was a bit odd and scatty
In fact I'm glad no-one was about in my street this morning as I walked back to the house and upto my front door and took my works swipe card out to open the door Just realised in time

Yesterday in Sainsburys, I was hunting in my bag for my mobile phone because it had my shopping list on it, getting a bit peturbed too at not finding it... until I realised the problem - as I said to my friend, who I was chatting to on the mobile at the time...

Glad to see others have those moments. I tend to search desperately for my keys, while holding them in my mouth.

And of course the classic, hunting for your glasses whilst wearing them.
A thing I did a few years ago that I've remembered ever since because it was really, really, really . I caught myself checking to see where my second head had gone.

Listening to the radio guess the year game thing, i could remember singing and listening to this song while watching a lot of football back in the ninties but couldn't quite recall. So I asked a friend for help.
What year was Euro '96?......

That and the also classic of going upstairs to get something and coming down with something completely different!
Last one was to get some scissors but I returned with a hammer. The really annoying bit was not knowing why i had thought I needed a hammer.
oh well must be getting old!

Nah - everyone stands in the middle of the bedroom/study/kitchen wondering why they came in.
You know you're getting _really_ old when you find yourself standing in the middle of bathroom wondering why you came in...

Oh I know we all do that, what got me was that I had obviously gone upstairs, picked up something useful after forgetting why i was there and then gone back downstairs and forgotten why i had picked up what i had picked up! Twice in a row is going some i reckon
Old before your time B? Well, your hair has fallen out, maybe you are lieing about your age to us?

You think he's reversed the digits? Or divided by 2, or even 3?

I was thinking this morning, there's a chap at one of my works, who's going away travelling soon... he's always friendly, to the extent that I reckon I could 'pull' him if I wanted to. I could have a mad fling before he leaves . I wouldn't want a long term relationship with him though, whether he was going away or not.
Is that bad?

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jul 30, 2003
Don;t see why not. Providing you make sure he understands that is what it is so he doesn;t expect you to be pining away for him whilst he is gone
Is there anyone else at your work or who would know who you are more interested in that this act might prejudice?

Cheers Bob.
Ictoan, could you translate that second sentence into english for me please? There's a luv.
Just had another thought - as with when I was mooning over my housemate, I could just work it all up in my head for it only to go tits up. Easier not to bother. Especially as this particular bloke isn't up to my usual, erm, standard (sounding like a fussy cow much?)
