Well, I know that RF has been handing out lots of pointless positions. Might be a lot of work. 
The Ozark Party is prepared to offer you one of many workless positions - Minister of Beanbag Chairs, Minister of Cute Puppies, Vice Vice President... and much more.
Of course, the only way to get one of those jobs is to jump the Hegemony ship and come over to the Majestic Ozark Mountains.

I have a problem with the form of politics as well, surely Jim Lynn is Head of h2g2. Any elected fuddy duddy is just going to be a Prime Minsiter not a president!!!

Nah! I think I'll pass thanks.
I have enough problems being Chairthingy of S.H.A.D.O.W. and being president of H2G2 would make me fall foul of the rules of that organisation.In fact I think any positions being offered for me to errrr.... support or nominate others for the post would also break the rules of S.H.A.D.O.W.(well the first 3 rules- I might get away with the 4th).
So I'm sorry I cannot participate.
