*letting it lie*
It was my most recent pair of posts that were moderated, or rather, pending moderation. They're back now.
I don't suppose my spoken voice does much for anyone, but I have a rather good singing voice. I've been known to break it out as a sort of secret weapon. My first date with my current girlfriend was at a karaoke bar. And the rest speaks for itself.

Erm, karaoke, why?
I have been complimented on my speaking voice but then again I've been told to turn it down on more occasions (but I was speaking quietly!)

I've always found the softer versions of both the Northen Irish and Scotish accents very attractive...though I have no idea why that should be.

Female Voices
Hooloovoo Posted Apr 5, 2001
So we're talking female singers?
How about Anita Kelsey, who Jennifer Connelly lip-sync's to in the film "Dark City".
Her voice, mmmmmmmmm.

I noticed.
As Marvin would say
"Life.... It's bad enough, Don't sing to me too..."

Whats the subject line "kettles" got to do with karaoke???
Oh, and [33] there's no need to post something twice just because thread isnt going in the direction you want. Maybe you should start a new thread, since its a bit off-topic for this one???

I don't think [33] posted twice? Did he/she/it? Or has one of them been moderated?
On the subject of Kettles which do you prefer electric or on the Hob ones?
Kettles, eh?????
Hooloovoo Posted Apr 5, 2001

Oh electric kettles are much better.

Aha - that was just telling us they'd started a new thread...
Me too, but I had a gran who never used one in her life - she always boiled water in a saucepan on the stove to make Tea or Coffee... I guess she didn't trust these new fangled inventions....

My first post was in reply to a comment by CS where karaoke was mentioned (under the kettles subject title) and then it was commented why don't you start a new thread. I did. I came back and said I've started a new thread.
I don't see that there should be any confusion about it at all when the thread is reconstructed showing who I replied to and where.
What do kettles have to do with what do men look for in women 9or whatever the original subject title of this forum was?
Kettles, eh?????
Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit) Posted Apr 5, 2001
It was quoted as something that Men look for in Women ("a good Kettle Arm" I think it was)....
No confusion Here...! Well not much... Well not much about that thread thingy ... Plenty of other confusion though!
Kettles, eh?????
Phil Posted Apr 5, 2001
Oh yes, so it was. I'd forgotten that, well it's not something I look for since I don't drink tea or coffee.

The debate over 'intelligence' still begs a definition. And the arguement on that definition would be endless. But, if we are arguing whether men and women 'think alike' I quote from CS's summation:
"And on a side note, while reading through the backlog, I noticed a side-argument that I declined to participate in. It was quite a revelation. The synopsis of the argument went like this:
Dancing Ermine: Men and women think differently.
Amy: No, they don't.
Potholer: Men and women think differently.
Amy: No, they don't.
Potholer: Sure they do.
Amy: No, they don't."
For me, this arguement was not a side issue but central to the debate.
Perhaps I miss the irony, but the evidence would indicate that they do not 'think alike' since they don't even agree on that. By resisting the proposition Amy proved she 'thought differently'. But if Amy had agreed that they do think differently she would have put the lie to the premise by 'thinking the same' as those who claim they think differently. In a way it's like the old, "I never tell the truth, I always lie" riddle.
*note to self: don't forget to pick up another box of conundrums for the weekend*

Sorry I think it would have been less confusing if you'd have given a link to the new thread...
