Can't remember what it's called but it's by Dire Straights, is the theme to Local Hero and is being used as the theme to one of those 'lots of people running a long way on a Sunday' programmes on BBC1.
I might have to go buy myself a copy of Alchemy, which I haven't heard for years and which I used to love to bits.
Turns out the 'lots of people running a long way on a Sunday' programme is The Great North Run.

It's called Going Home.
I like it too, though Scots friends find it dire. Makes it doubly good, I suppose.
Playing here is Somebody Told Me (Killers). Broadcast to the house (street?) by Verminette, as apparently necessary homework accompaniment.

I want to get Alchemy anyway - if I remember correctly the version of Telegraph Road is fantastic, and you can't go wrong with a bit of Sultans Of Swing.
Currently listening to assorted Star Wars music on a PS2 game.

Aren't they just splendid on the marvellous stick? Once you realise that the pomposity is deliberate they become a different monster all together.

THAT's the bit i didn't get. I thought they were a bit up themselves y'know, but as you say, it's all part of the game. Cool album when you get into it.

Sorry - can't help with that.
Listening to The Kooks' album. Something about this band (and especially Luke's singing) makes me a little mushy. Odd.

As soon as i heard the Kooks i became instanly hooked on them. Their songs just seem to make a lot of sense

Initially I thought that i fancied the singer (which would put me slap bang in dirty old man territory) but it's not that at all. Something about 'em hits the spot. They probably remind me of something I heard years ago which i can't place. Whatever it is, I'm glad they're doing it!

The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger.
Must get my act together and buy the album rather than just the single. Anyone got Costello music?

Yes.
Buy it. It's brilliant. To me it's the album of 2006 - knocks that Mercury prizewinner into a cocked hat (mind you, I've not acquired Empire yet... ).
