For those of you who can make it, I will be in the "Wellington" near the Strand on Monday at around 6pm, as arranged by dear TC (see posts 1081 to 1091).
To ensure I blend in, I shall be wearing my Marvin costume and pretty pink bows in my pigtails !!

Phil Posted May 11, 2001
I shall be at the Wellington on monday from about 6:45pm.
I shall be carrying a copy of the times with the crossword completed and a carnation (sorry got carried away there )
If you want to know how to recognise me look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A493742 and I'm in several photos there.

Still not sure if I am coming, so you may well have to make do with a hint of mystery, rather than a whiff of BO
Incidently, there are links on my page to Edinburgh photos, which show both myself and Phil, although he obviously is in a better light.

Hope you all have a v. drunken time.
Though not as drunk as Munchkin's friend Jamie (ask him when you see him...)
Meeting on Monday
Potholer Posted May 12, 2001
Given the tragic news about Douglas Adams, if people are still meeting up on Monday, I guess it's going to be more of a wake than a normal get-together.
If people are still meeting, I may turn up myself, but it's hard to think about at the moment.

Nikki-D Posted May 12, 2001
We all know that Douglas wouldn't want his untimely demise to stop *anything* to do with h2g2.
I think he would exhort the "undecided's" to be there.
I shall be there to rejoice and celebrate the life of a man who has been truely influential in the course of human-kind.

I think I will turn up myself. Is there going to be anyone there before 6-ish - details seem buried way back in the conversation.

As you say, I'm sure he would be having a go at us for being undecided, so I will say now that I will be there.

Nikki-D Posted May 13, 2001
Assuming I get away from work on time, I should arrive a little after 5:30.
I think I know where Douglas is hanging out now ... The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe.
Glad you guys/lifeforms are coming.

A wake (as in Irish) is the best way to celebrate/mourn. Sorry I'm too far away to join you, but I shall set the alarm for 2.30 am and have a dram with you. You wouldn't have met all these super people without him

Umm, err, still waiting and seeing. I now have so many other things I could be doing (waxing the dog, getting all maudlin along to the Radio series, beating my rabid flatmate off with a big stick, packing my life into boxes) but I really want to come along now, in a toasting the man who made it all possible kind of way. So, I may well be there.
The phrase that best descibes my feelings on DNA, as emailed by a friend of mine: "Belgium man, Belgium!"

Potholer Posted May 14, 2001
I'll probably be there ~6:30, wearing a bright red caving T-shirt.

Phil Posted May 14, 2001
I'll be there wearing a white H2G2 Tshirt, but people probably have already left to get to the pub. Another half hour and I'll be doing the same

I am just about to leave for the train and, stuff it, I shall be there. See you in a bit (or indeed have seen you by the time you read this )

Certainly was BB.
There was a bit of an interesting bus journey home though. Oxford Circus looked to have been closed by the police (tape & cars blocking the road) so the bus ended up going round Hanover square and Grosvner Sq and up by marble arch rather than along Oxford St.
While travelling round Grosvner Sq, it went past the US embassy. Why is it that the ambassador (who probably has such lovely parties) is the the ambassador to the court of St James?

Wand'rin star Posted May 15, 2001
EIIR lives in Buck House when in London. The offices, however, are in St James' Palace. So that's where the ambassadors go to present their credentials when they're appointed and take their leave when they're dis-appointed.( note the pedantic punctuation)
