Well burble is definately what I do after a couple of pints.

If we're going to go for dot.comrades and what have you, how about dotties? I could certainly describe some of the people I have met on the web as well dotty smiley - winkeye

Our dear and dotty agcBen used the term 'dosh' in another thread and in the context left me completely smiley - erm confounded.
I thought dosh was money, lucer, cash, coin, the where-with-all, moolah, the necessaries, currency, the readies...

I'm in favour of the in(de)term(in)ates. Dotty implies older than anyone else on this thread is, and I'm not admitting to it smiley - star

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit)

Why does Dotty imply that?

Association with dotage and dotard (it's OK I know it's not the same root) but in my idiolect dotty is only used for post-menopausal women. term of contempt. I would use scatty or dippy, or possibly crazy, for younger fry smiley - star

Gnomon - time to move on

No. Sot comes from an Anglo-Saxon word sott. Sod comes from Sodomite which comes from the city of Sodom where the supposedly practiced this. (How long do you have to practice before you're any good?)

No.
A sot is a drunkard (connected with sodden, though) A sod is a b*gger, from Sodomite (an inhabitant of Sodom, whose biblical sin it was supposed to be) - and, before you ask a b*gger was a Bulgarian heretic smiley - star
