Took a photo of the new Moon. There was still an amazing amount of light in the sky for 9pm or so.
The 'dark' bit of the moon isn't really dark in the pic: you can see it lit up by Earthshine.

Almost finished writing a short story for a mystery contest. Apparently, my writer's block only really kicks when I'm trying to make it a novel!

Is a mystery contest a contest where you have to write in the "mystery" genre, or one nobody really knows anything about?

The former. It has to be set in my hometown, and I hope I can make a quick 300 euros that way and gain everlasting fame.
It has a dog in it. A German Shepherd. A real one! Although it happens to be a bit on the smallish side.
Also, I know that one of my former teachers is definitely going to read it, so I get to pay him back at last. He's making an appearance... ... it's a major part, actually. But he's small and brown-haired and I'm making him a tall redhead, so nobody can claim I still have it in for him...

WJH? WTF!
Befriended (his idea) and un-friended (my idea) someone on facebook within thirty seconds. Just a brief glimpse at his FB page immediately brought back everything and vividly reminded me why I divorced him some fifteen years ago. Drama, baby, drama!

Oy. Don't let FB steal your breathing space. Buffers are Good Things. There are some people I'm very glad to keep on the other side of an ocean.

WJH: A Sign It's Bedtime.
This calculation I was doing just would NOT work out. It was coming up with something far higher than it ever should have been. Then I realised the problem.
I was doing the calculation with years of 52 months' duration.
Yep, bed time all right.

Slept far too late, was writing a text to the keeper that I might need an extra 15 minutes to get up there today, hadn't even sent it when I got one from his wife saying "we're only just getting up, will be 20 minutes later..."

is in the post my dear 2legs I just hope it gets through customs
WJH: a small dog is looking at me in that way which means [take me for a walk - my owner has gone for a run without me] ( the dog is too small to do that distance)

Maybe the owner could carry the dog on the run... so the dog gets all the fun of going on a long walk without the problem os his tiny legs slowing things down
WJH?: nothing... as always happens when I wake so early, I've been up hours, and my body said to me that it thinks it oughta be lunchtime already... but of course it isn't maybe going to have some tuna mayo tomato, lettuce, cucumber rolls for lunch today, the rolls I made yesterday still oughta be pretty* fresh damn I'm hungry again now

WJH: I am looking at the packet of yeast I brought with me, now all I need is some good flour. I hope I can find some! Then there will be whole wheat bread rolls at last

You'll want at least 50% white flour (strong white flour), otherwise you won't have enough glutin to make/allow the rolls to rise I useually find more than 50% white is needed or they tend to end up just being too heavy
My Rye and white flour french bread baguettes and rolls have 8% rye... but rye is a strong flavour so you don't need much really
WJH?: lunch. hurrumble! Tuna, mayo, cucumber, tomato, gherkin, black pepper, and of course the rolls I made yesterday
Key: Complain about this post
