I didn't explain that clearly...

The netbook is broadcasting over my WiFi network (secure connection), to the PC downstairs, the turning the radio on bit, was that I'll have to put the radio on in the bedroom when I move to being upstairs and on the net on the Netbook, so I've got some radio four in teh background...

WJH?: err nothing... yet...

WJH?: went and had a cigarette in the front room. Came up to my bedroom, the radio was on, on radio four, so crawled into bed (lifting up the netbook first), and had a look... still copying files...

It was bad enough that I've had to field complaints from visitors since Monday, because our reception and restaurant are being painted.

Bad enough, also, that the paint fumes leak up through the floorboards into the offices and my flat, so I have a headache from sitting in them all day.

Bad enough that the workmen who are meant to get the first coat of varnish on the floorboards today are still only half done sanding the floor, and it's 8 pm.

But I was looking forward to the brief bit of silence when they turn the power sanders off and have something to eat.

And now they've started playing drum solos on their pizza cartons

Coincidentally, I've just been phoned by an over-zealous and impatient co-worker. I responded via email to the enquiry, with a link to http://wapedia.mobi/en/File:8hoursday_banner_1856.jpg . I hope it's not too cryptic.

Gaaaah! They're still sanding, so they haven't even started painting yet. And I have to wait for them to be gone before I can lock up and go to bed.

Just kicked them out, after they nearly set off the fire alarm. And wrote a note saying that I will not be up and ready to work in, er, six hours.

Got to work an hour and a half late. Nobody dared complain.

And now I have to go to the other side of Belfast with one of the gardeners. Again. That pick-up truck breaks down so often, it's hardly worth using a mechanic who's 45 minutes away for the service contract!

But it's a nice way to spend a few working hours...
