I have a friend "of a certain age" who has a wonderful turn of phrase.

We were on a bus one day and overheard two "young things" discussing turning 20.

My friend turned to me and said, "Listen to them! I've got pimples older than they are - and my pimples have probably got more in their heads too! "

Being in bed by 11 on New Year's Eve.

Getting to sleep on Christmas Eve without all the excitement keeping you awake - and wanting a lie-in the next morning.

(Oh, and it was a single Malibu and Coke.)

We spend New Year's Eve with my Mum, 'cos she often goes away for Christmas. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't bother 'seeing the New Year in'. If we did stay up that late, we'd be doing our own thing, not waiting for the clock to strike midnight.

Something that makes me feel old: seeing the new versions of Andy Pandy and The Flowerpot Men, and being able to remember watching the originals when I was small.

When people who are 23 think they're old!

I'm fast heading towards 30 (but two short years to go) and far from being old and calming down I've just enroled on a medieval longsword fighting class.

I tend to wrap up more nowadays another sign I think, did'nt seem so long ago that I would go out wearing very little this time of year and not feel the slightest chill!

When 28 year olds think they're getting old! I have 6 months left to the big 3-0, actually more like 5, thinking about it....

Wanting to kill my MIL for calling my husband at midnight of his birthday to say happy birthday. Shockingly, I wasn't in bed at the time, maybe 'coz it was Chrimbo eve.

Laying in bed knowing I turned the heating off but having to get up anc check just in case. The big 3 0 you say the big 3 0 blimey worry when you get to the big 4 0 or the bloomin big 5 0 or the incredibley large bluddy 6 0.

Don't worry, I get up to check the heating, too (and the door!)

Mal, your heating never works. You probably get up in surprise just to check that it is still working

I used to look forward to my thirties, thinking they had to be better than the mess that was my twenties. So far, I have to say, I'm not impressed!

I want to know what is meant by "the wrong side of 30". Both sides are just as good.

and now she's in the middle of The Sexy 60s "and loving it!"

Things that make me feel young: the concept of people in their 60s being sexy... eww.

I know people who are sexy at 90, I know others who are sexless at 25.
