Why 360 degrees?
FortyTwo Posted Jun 25, 2001
I was peckish OK? is a very volatile subject, obviously...I could think of a few philosophic things to say about the healing properties of too, actually, especially when combined with or tea.

I know this might be a tad off topic, but does anyone know why there are three-hundred and sixty degrees in a circle? You see....oh, forget it. Pass me that chocolate wrapper, and I'll make a little silver goblet instead.

There are 360 degrees in a circle because of the anchient african tribe "Hiachate" who believed that there were 360 gods in the world and each of these gods fitted into an all powerful god. these gods were often drawn as a circle. The circle symbolised the all powerful god and then each small god had an equal segment of the circle.
it is also said that we call them degrees because the achient tribe used to call there gods degras but this is as yet unproved. Another fantasticly intreasting this about the "Hiachate" tribe was that they were the first tribe in the world (discovered so far) that new about oil and coal as we have found many remains of places where they have dug for coal and oil. We as yet do not know if they new of it's burning propities but we think it is most likely.
One final thing i think must be said is that all of which is written above is actualy false and took me about 3 minutes to make up in my specifically evil way! Ofcourse i think it sounds a likely way that 360 degrees could have been formed but the "Hiachate" tribe is infact not real and to the best of my knowledge has never existed.
Thanx for reading, Lord Preston OMFC

Thanx for the . Are we celebrating anything? 'cause i'd like to make a toast. *hits spoon against * To the guy who invented 360 degrees, The master of the universe, the guy to end all guys. The one man who had the vision to include the number 360 into many mathmatical equations. Thank you. Drink well and long live the circles! *holds up to all.*

speaking of toast...toast and spread has just popped into my mind....
I have found my copy of the book I was on about earlier and will attempt to read the bits about circles and dividing them up etc to find out about the 360 degrees.
...[smiles hopefully] maybe some would help...?
By the by, does anybody know anything about a psychology experiment into influence where a class was split into children with blue eyes and those with brown eyes, one group being told they were more intelligent, given priority in the dinner queue etc and then that group seemed to score higher than the other group at the end of the experiment?
