I've figured out the question!
GIVEN: that Deep thought was a computer, a mechanical construct, and quite possibly the most powerful non-organic-interface adding maching in universal exsistence, he would think along computarial lines.
AND KNOWING: that said Deep Thought could see into the far future, and thereby predict the creation of the Earth AND all permutations contained therein,
AND PREDICTING: that same Deep Thought could see the massive proliferation of computers and the creation of the internet, technically a possible second brain to the Planet...
42 is the number of the Version of MicroSoft Windows that will ACTUALLY WORK AS INTENDED!!!!!
