I just wanted to drop you a note to say... some of files mostly kkzz or what ever lot on polish between wars. LOT on upper leval "plans for the future, drafts ect. but still giveing them a chance to set watchdog phone up but did nothing if i have to sell it to pay these alledge arrears ,Ebay be good a place as any. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F123082?thread=314391&post=5210351#p5210351 PS THATS WHY PAGE IS SO LONG prev incarnation GENERAL INTRODUCTION One of the aspects of the Europe's integration involves creating the conditions in which countries of the Central & Eastern Europe could join the EC. Such an integration is not an easy process. In relation to the systems of the delivery of health care it includes the assessment of the status of those systems in Central & East Europe with the view to draw them closer to their western counterparts. This goal is promoted by, among others, exploratory, facts-finding, consultative and educational trips of western specialists to those countries. One of the obstacles in this task is a relative shortage of knowledge in the West of the traditions, development, organisation and workings of Central and Eastern Europe's care delivery systems. This can, at times, prevent well intended help to be taken as such and made the best of by its recipients. The idea behind this article is to provide a skeleton knowledge to those of the Bulletin readers who are or are going to be involved in the help to and co-operation with the Polish Mental Health Service. It is hoped that this job of theirs might be given an easier start through this pocket guide to Polish Psychiatry. The idea of such guide was first put in use when the author gave the more comprehensive version of this work to the members of the British Delegation* for the seminar on The British Mental Care Delivery System and the Transformation of the Polish System', November 18-20, 1993 in Popowo/Warsaw, Poland. *Prof. H. Freeman, Dr M Jackson, Mr H Lloyd-Richards, Prof. G Wilkinson, Dr K Zakrzewski. DRAFT 1.6.95 CONTINUATION OF POLISH PSYCHIATRY AIMS OF AND OBJECTIVES The Aims and Objectives of This Work The primary aim of this work is to introduce Polish Psychiatry in this historical perspective to the international community of mental health workers and especially to the British part of this community. The task will be carried out both from the stand points of outsider and insider in relation to Polish Psychiatry. This is because I happen to spend equal parts of my professional life working and learning in Mental Health Services (NHS) in Poland and in England. Methodologically, despite the fact that I didn't plan it that way (but this is definitely a different story!) one might call it a cross-over design'. Such a situation almost invites comparisons. However, I would like to say from the outset, these would be limited here to the status of illustrations. Such illustrations whenever appropriate will be used as yard sticks to give some idea of positioning of Polish Psychiatry against the model system of British Psychiatry. In addition each organisation has to be assessed in relation to aims and objectives that is itself sets out to achieve. These are set out in the Report about the status of Psychiatry and directions of further development of mental health and social services for people with mental disorders (1980)* prepared by the group of experts under the chairmanship of Professor Dabrowski which will be further referred to as Report, 1980. These will also be value judgements by the author himself and though the elements of subjectivity could not here be avoided, these will be set in the context of conditions in which the Polish Mental Health Service (PMHS) develops and operates and personal experience of its workings. Last but not least, there will be several areas of Polish Psychiatry that will be difficult to find parallels with elsewhere. My aim here would be to bring them to light so that they become whenever appropriate a part of a heritage of Euro

I just wanted to drop you a note to say...greetings! Would like to ask what field of medicine are studying and are you doing it for: 1)financial gain 2)altruistic reasons 3)just simply an interest in medicine 4)or a combination of reasons.
I'm Bob, incidently, and being new here am still finding my feet...or is it my brain?
hey
Z Posted Jun 9, 2004
Well considering I was 12 when I decided to do it I can't really remember, back then I think it was financial reasons, because I was growing up in an area of high unempolyment so I was very worried about not being able to find a job when I left school. Now it is more alturistic reasons I suppose, I could make money doing something else, but it wouldn't be as worthwhile in comparasion.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Jun 19, 2004
I just wanted to drop you a note to say... HELP!!!
I was just hoping you'd be kind enough to look at an entry I've written which is currently languishing, seemingly unnoticed in Writing Workshop. I'm hopeful that its ready for Peer Review but have some worries about the format I've used. Basically I have the main entry on 1 page and links to 2 pages of appendices, but most entries seem to be written as a single page. Is that the preferred method?
The entry is "The Life and Works of Louise Brooks."
Grateful for any input you can offer

It's great to here from you, not being honest always seems rather like effort for me so I don't bother!
I'm really glad you enjoy The Forum, when one of my friends started it up we didn't think that it would get as much response as it does.
It's great to see you around! How long have you been on h2g2?
