The H2G2 Editors Started conversation Aug 20, 2002
We've just made a small amendment to the House Rules of all DNA communities. In the past we asked anyone under the age of 18 to ask their parents' permission before taking part in a DNA community.
Following discussions with the BBC editorial policy team we've now lowered this age to 16 years.
The amended houserule for h2g2 now reads:

If you're Under Age 16
Please get your parents' or guardians' permission before taking part in h2g2 or any other BBC Discussion Message Board.
Never reveal any personal information about yourself (for example, your telephone number, home address or email address) without getting your parents' or guardians' permission first.

You could always do it anyway, just for the exercise...
Look on it as a type of manouvres-always useful to know your boots won't melt and guns clog with sand when the real thing comes round.

wow! I read an announcement! I'm quite proud of myself-I don't do this very often-owing to the fact that there's normally so much conversation already passed that I don't know what's going on.

I signed up when I was 17... and didn't bother asking my parents. Well, I was only 17 for 4 months before turning 18... so I probably figured that it didn't matter.

I think I signed up when I was 17, too... but that was a while ago, and I don't think we even had age restictions back then.
