OK, the first one seemed to go well, so here's another.
No Googling, of course. And, yes, there are klaxons, so don't jump to conclusions until you're sure.

Yell, Mull, Lewis and Hoy are islands belonging to the British Isles....
No thoughts yet on the others...

Lewis, Rubens and Fernando are all winners.
But only two are champions.
(There'll be another along sooner or later.)

I take it all back!
I just read Grid#1 and realised how sneaky these are!
So I repeat. I take it all back.
You are getting very, very sleepy.

Lang, Winner, Stone and Lean are all fillum directors (Fritz, Michael, Oliver and David).

And aiming for interestingness points, the saxophone was invented by Adolphe Sax, from the town of Dinant in Belgium, where there is a fountain with a big sax in it to honour him.

Oooh, just realised Rubens and Van Dyck were Belgian painters, so all I need is another famous Belgian lurking in amongst that lot.

Teasswill Posted Sep 4, 2009
Van Dyck is a style of beard - any more of those in there?

Teasswill Posted Sep 4, 2009
Lewis was Morse's side-kick. Do Moore & Stone fit in there as half of a double-act?

Mu Beta Posted Sep 4, 2009
You're getting close, and I'll forgive jwf the obvious klaxon.
Is anyone going to put it all together for bonus points?

Abba songs: Fernando, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Moore

You're close enough. I think you'll find Michael Moore was the director and that Winner is much better as an Abba song. Strictly speaking, the islands are Scottish islands as well.
I'll have to - er - mull over the scoring.

Right, we'll say two points each for Gandalfstwin and Whisky, and five for Beatrice for getting it (mostly) pulled together, with 1 point for ekky for providing the last Belgian. And annoyance to Teasswill because the sidekicks were going to feature on Grid 3 until she brought it up.
The official answers:
MULL, YELL, LEWIS, HOY = Scottish Islands
RUBENS, BOSMAN, SAX, VAN DYCK = Famous Belgians
MOORE, LEAN, LANG, STONE = Film Directors
WINNER, QUEEN, MAMMA, FERNANDO = Subjects of ABBA songs
Grid 3 on its way.
