In a way yes. DGI +1
Clue. Taff's post 60 is dangerously close to being right - even if it is a bad pun!

Did he think he was better than everyone else and call himself Superior?

Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic. Posted Jul 17, 2009
haha. No.
I think with Laumet it might be better to lance this boil and give the specific answer relating to him so people can move on to the actual link between the 4 things and to save me having to dance around it.

Sorry, I'm coming in a bit late here, but wasn't the jeep named after a creature in Popeye, a funny little dog-like thing with a big nose that could go anywhere and kept disappearing (if memory serves right).
Other characters in Popeye that gave their names to WWII things include Wellington Wimpy after whom the Wellington bomber was sometimes know as a Wimpy and the Goons - a tribe that lived on an island - a word used to refer to German soldiers (particularly prison camp guards) and later adopted by Spike Milligan for the Goon Show.

I'll give you a DGI +1 for that.
It is *one* of the many myths around (the other being 'general purpose') - I went with the one that came with the documentary evidence.
You've also all but stated the link....

There is a lake named after someone in this story - points if you know who - but it's no-one mentioned so far.

Is the link something to do with changing their identity to escape from something or just disappear?
QI - Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic. Posted Jul 17, 2009
No. It's isn't but I'll use this opportunity to close off the speculation about Laumet - because that's what I was trying to hint at but no-one quiet said. He changed his name alright but he completely re-invented himself and then on that basis went on to enter the history books, in many ways, but in particular in the way I want to like to Louis, The Chief and the TM-908.
