A Conversation for Ford Prefect

Good point. I've no idea. I just assumed they could use the Guidebook or something. Didn't Ford send off a new entry on Earth? He must've had something to write it on. Maybe it says something in the novels.

Neither have I. I just seem to recall something about how he'd sent off an entry that'd been edited down to "Mostly harmless". Then when the Earth magically came back into existence later the first thing Ford knew about it was that his entry appeared unedited in the Book.

I don't remember that bit, how odd. I always thought they should have something like a pager (excuse the pun) to send the entries.

Well it was in the fifth book I think. Haven't read them in ages.

me neither. Although when I re-hashed my PS recently it did get me thinking about the books and hootoo generally cos it has come a long way.

yeah, has changed a lot since I started. Lot more people and so much going on. Think the books and stuff have almost got lost.

I think there are still a lot of people on here who are still hhgttg fanatics and the spirit is still here, I hope. After all Douglas still has a connection with Dr. Who too.
I notice there are people on here who aren't registered because of their liking of the books, but then they just drift off after a while. There was a guy I spoke to a while back, I think he was in the clubhouse. He decided to move to myspace cos it suited him better. Fair enough.
I think it was TK. He liked Free.

Well I suppose things change with people. Though do Facebook etc have all the forums and written entries that are here?
Maybe I've just changed circles, but there don't seem to be the same chats and stuff about hhgttg. Like the Prefectionists and Dentonites have kinda slumped. have started a few new threads recently, but not too many takers. Probably lots of people have left.

yeah there were a couple of the italics I used to talk to a bit but a lot of them have left. Though I noticed Smij comes back to talk in the Dr. Who forums.

It's probably something that comes and goes depending on who's about and what's going on.

Yeah. And I guess people's circumstances change, they have more (or less) time on their hands so aren't on here as much. I know my time on hootoo is pretty sporadic to say the least. I somehow end up being on here a lot and then disappearing for months cos of stuff going on, then coming back again. I mean, there are some entries I'd like to update, for intstance, but I can't contact the original authors and even then, I dunno how long it'd take me so I haven't done anything about it yet.

Yeah, I've found there are times I can't get on as much and other times I'm on every day. Great fun wading through all the new threads! Find it so hard to reply to a lot when there've been 80 new posts or whatever.

well sometimes when you've not been on for a week or two, you find others have been talking in your absense, especially if it's an Ask h2g2 thread or something. Even some have 20-30 new posts in a day.

Kaz Posted May 11, 2008
yeah course, sorry! I guess I'm just not used to that level of posts but then I remember asking something in Ask.. a while back and it did get a bit loony!

Yeah. Seems a bit bonkers. And especially when you're away for a bit, everyone talks away in your absense. Like I haven't been on for a couple of days and onre Ask thread's had 43 new posts. Dreading trawling through, but don't want to unsubscribe yet.
Key: Complain about this post
