Hello. I'm new here, and I just wanted to say that I love Ford Prefect. He rocks like heck! I also like Arthur Dent, as played by Simon Jones in the TV series. I've been reading this conversation and I thought it would be a good place to make my first post. smiley - smiley

Hi random dent, welcome aboard!

I think my first post was in this forum too. Strange.
Have you heard about the new series on radio 4? They've adapted the other books into radio scripts and the series starts next Tues.

...That is, unless you're not in the UK?

Yay I just (well a couple hours ago) finished listening to the first episode online! It was really good, though the sound quality on my computer is bad. I've tried the game on the website, too. Very tricky. I haven't managed to get out of the room yet, but I'm still trying. smiley - smiley

Yeah.
I keep on missing the radio series!
I caught the beginning of last weeks. They've done something funny with the voice of the book though. They've got the new guy to fill in the words they haven't got for Peter Jones (they've kind of added in bits of Peter Jones and the new guy.) In a way I just wish they'd completely re-recorded the narrator part with the new bloke. Its a bit dodgy on the ear. I think its a bit disrespectful to Peter Jones in a way as well.

...Still think David Dixon did a better Ford Prefect than Geoffrey McGivern though.

whatever voices they are using, the misallignment is great! even listening again for the third time I still like it.

This was the first time I'd heard Hitchhiker's on radio, having never heard the original series, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I think I prefer the books, though. They left out a lot of stuff from Life, the Universe, and Everything. Also, I agree with you about David Dixon being a better Ford Prefect. He has a nice voice. smiley - smiley Bye for now!
