well, not exactly *missing*, as such.... i'm not sure a notice on the page would be quite the thing. just that a search on my new name(done to see just how original i was being when i choose it-- not very i guess.) turned up 4 definitely *in*active others, and we were wondering if they'd given up on h2g2 or were just lurking.... depends on when the bbc took over i guess, since then we'd know if they had had pre-bbc accounts and re-activated them(well, 2 of them, the other 2 haven't done anything at all!) and just haven't posted since, or came in post-bbc and lost interest, although they still could be lurking. i'm going to go and check right now to see when all that downtime was..... bb.

it was somewhen around early March, according to the temporary h2g2 board, which i still bewilderingly have a link to. although the newusers page, which i expected to be really helpful, gave no indcation of lots of no-one joining up... anyway, the first person with an intro last posted june 30 this year, so they probably left, and the secondnever posted anything, or at least unsubscribed from all and their space dates from jul 4 last year, so they either reactivated it afterwards or the moderators have gotten to it and reactivated it, although that depends on how far they've been able to get with that. so they are probably still lurking about soewhere. upheld by the fact that they don't seem to have posted anything before, although, like i said, they could easily have unsubscribed.

and wayfarer75's(the first person with an intro, and i just discovered that their space dates from nov 27 last year, so they cared enough to reactivate it) last post doesn't say anything about leaving. thought it might be something about "i wish i could spend more time here but i just don't have the time" or, "i'm moving soon so won't be here for awhile, being busy with moving" or, "i don't want to be at the same site as someone as mean as you anymore" or, "well exams are coming up so i won't be here for the next few weeks[implying they forgot to come back?]" or anything else giving a clue as to why they aren't here anymore. my bet would be lurking.*waves*

Sudden and dramatic changes in conversation is what makes the backlog so "interesting", or "incomprenhensible" to read::
I heard about it this morning, afternoon UK time, when it happened, as i was listening to BBC news at time: hope they get the people responsible, and deal with them in the manner they deserve
Might go check the latest on it on the BBC news thinggy...

I just hope the US' reaction is the right reaction aimed at the right people. I don't trust Dubya with all that weaponry and I don't like the thought of starting wars with middle eastern countries.

I think as i have said/wrote elsewhere recently/today, I still agree with US response, in as far as this kind of tradgity must be delt with by holding culprets responsible, and although I origionally thought that the all-out response would be best, the realisation of the current president of the US and his record, fills me with dred at having such a guy at the command of American military; including the Button to the nuclear arsonal, and, although it would be nice to see the oppressive regimes in places like Afganastan ()speling I kno), delt with and removed, to the benifit of "ordinary" people in such countries, the all-out military response will I guess surely only result in teh deaths of more inocents albeit in the middle east, rather than teh US, which isn't anything desirible as far as I can make out, as I can not see a function/point in punishing the ordinary citizens, for the kinds of actions taken by their non-democratic leaders. If that makes sense? goodnight all

the big red button..... no, killing more innocents won't help.... the problem is id-ing those who are and those who aren't.
