I'm grew up in Oregon, but I'm Texan on my father's side. (DO I get to stay? I've also lived in California, Arkansas, Florida and suburban Washinton, DC.

I've lived here for 6 years, and I guess it's about time to move on.

I hate the "border states", like Virginia and Kentucky, that have weird mixtures od Southern culture and other things. For example: it is almost impossible to get a decent serving of grits in Virginia. Even the local Waffle House has watery, runny grits. It's almost as if there was a conspiracy to keep Them Damn Yankees (tm) from coming further south than the Carolinas. Weirdness.
heh

Transplants are welcome, I believe. Just so long as ye don't always try to tell people all about "how we used to do things back North"
smiley - smiley hehehehehe
besides, Arkansas is Southern, in my opinion. My Grandmother is from there. Of course, her grits are runny as cream of wheat, but that's hardly her fault.

I believe you are outnumbered by transplants anyway, SM, so I wouldn't try to oppose us smiley - smiley.

The top one thing I hate about the South is that it's highway system is becoming WAY more complicated than anyone can cope with.

I don't care if it's Atlanta, Birmingham, or Jackson, the traffic is the biggest mess since Los Angeles invented the traffic jam.

To view road rage at it's finest, try Highway 280 from Inverness to Homewood (Birmingham area) any given Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Combine with heat, cell phones, and overly agressive drivers, and it's like bumper cars on crack.

Better yet, avoid it altogether.

KWDave, Keeper of the Sunset Ritual, and Ambassador to the Conch Republic.....ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Hang in there! There gonna build a high speed railroad from B'ham to "Hotlanta"! That oughta' lighten the load on 280!!!!LOL

Alabama highway planning.....just roll the dice, thats' as good as it gets! Me, I just stay on 65. It moves just as slow, but it's much more entertaining!smiley - winkeye

Well, that's the thing I've always hated about the South: No commuter rail! I hear that we're getting one running through GRIFFIN from Macon to Atlanta NEXT YEAR! YAAAAY!

I guess that'll mean I have nothing to hate about the South that I wouldn't hate about anyplace else, since you can find most of the things everyone is bitching about all over this fair country nowadayze! smiley - smiley

I guess I'd better mosy on over to the "What I like about the South" board, so'z I can contribute to the conversation! *snicker snicker* smiley - winkeye
