Plans for the H2G2 Movie
Jim Lynn Posted Jan 13, 2004
See my previous post - Martin Freeman is a bit more than a rumour (although I'm told none of these are cast-iron until contracts are agreed).
"The director has done bugger-all else, though. Which is hardly good news."
Yeah, those first-timers always cock it up. Just look at Citizen Kane.

I reckon Jack Davenport(steve Taylor in coupling)is the man to play A. Dent. Or is it that he reminds me of Simon Jones? Any comments?

I'm going to get slagged off for admitting this, but I never watched Coupling...
Although I do know who Jack Davenport is

Rowan Atkinson's too old.
Whoopi Goldberg? NO! It just wouldn't work!
Jeff Goldblum's too straightlaced for Zaphod.

now thats just being ageist, "never seen actor like Gollum"
I.R.L make up can be used, besides we all age ,besides if they filmed it then used "digtial tech" it is a couple of button clips to superimpose earlier "face of actor" on top of actual face since "positional points of ref eyes mouth ears shape ect" do not change as we grow older.
I'LL have you know jeff goldbloom can be "very relaxed" dont know if you have seen some of his earlier work plus i ubderstand he has done a lot of work on german and other tv stations..

Possibly, who knows? Does it matter? even if it does matter does it matter that it matters?

Yep agree with you 100%. The guy was born to play Arthur Dent.
I don't think the film would work with it full of mega-stars. But some midi-stars would probably do well...

Agreed. You need some pretty well-known people to pull the punters in. That's what they did for the cast of Thunderbirds

Things seem to get better and better for this film, which is a lot better than the old Development Hell

Absolutely bang on! Hugh Laurie gets my vote but I doubt anyone can surpass Peter Jones as "the book".

Well, I'm sure master copies of Peter Jones' narration exists at a quality that can be remastered enough for film

I have copies of such, but not master tapes. MP3's or HHGTTG aren't really great.
