Hammer and Nails Debate

Surely the fact the nail is tortured until it dies a grisly death is far worse then having your life prolonged? I think we all agree that it is better to live than die.

A hammer is also tortured until it dies a grisly death. But it is tortured for much, much longer.

Maybe it is tortured for longer, but only on the head. It never suffers the full pain experienced by a nail.

Who is to say whether the nails are dead or not? They may be waiting, screaming out for help to deaf ears...

I feel more sorry for the ones who get hammered in wrong - they have to suffer the humiliation and agony of being pulled out and thrown away, and yet another nail must be used to actually be hammered in right!

True, it's a terrible risk, which they have no choice about!

Um, it's a bit quiet at the moment; in other words, ummm, nothing's happening.
I think I'll do some recruiting, somewhere.

Not wanting to state the obvious or anything, or force people to do things they don't want to or anything, but hasn't this conversation rather drifted from the point? (heh heh, what a horrible pun...)

The plight of hammers and nails is bad enough... But think of the wood and the walls. Day in and day out they feel the pain of nails being driven into them, the relentless pounding of hammers. And when this torment is done, someone hangs a picture to cover the wound. Deep within themselves they hear the silent cries of the nails and can do nothing to stop it...
*sob*
I hate my life...

Ouch!
And yes, Ming, the topic did drift quite badly! But then we have a habit of doing that on this page don't we!

*wonders at the amazingly fast drift of topic that just happened*
But the question is, do you want one? I mean, some people are perfectly happy without one. Most people, in fact.
However, I also have one... right below:

The whole symbol thing started before Perl 2. That was when you weren't told at the bottom who you were replying to, just the message. So it helped if you had a logo like my
<BB<
to help remind people of who they were replying to. Otherwise they got confused, for example I accidently called "Gimme Chocolate Now" "Nerd Boy", who was in a different conversation. "Gimme Chocolate Now" didn't appreciate being called a nerd
But something like
~A~ or <~<~A~>~>
might work well.
