Aparrently Bottom was originally intended to be called "My Bottom". The reasoning behind this was that the person introducing the show would have had to say, " and now, here's my bottom". The BBC wouldn't have it, though.

However, the majority of the episodes were so named to be a phrase containing the word "Bottom" eg Bottom Gas. A nation was sick with laughter.

I read it was to be called "Your Bottom": "And now, Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson in Your Bottom".

I tended to think that it was bottom because it they were as low as you could get
I didn't become a baker for the same reason, well if I became a really good one they'd call me a master baker.
