kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

Night GDZ.

After 20 or so minutes of refreshrefreshrefresh my olympic ticket application has gone through - just need to wait and see (again) whether we get tickets. What a pile of foetid dingoes kidneys.

The seat back with straps should arrive this morning for our new tandem - it fits onto the rear seat and should stop t'Boy falling off if he gets too tired. Then just need to fit the child seat over the rear wheel for t'other and I will be good to go again.

Have put in a temporary repair on my current bike and will ride it (carefully, nd with fingers crossed) to the bike shop later and get the chain replaced. Hate having to use the car, and walking these distances takes too long for impatient little boys!

Sunny and warm, at last. It's taken a week to aclimatise away from Portuguese sun to Manx summer.

Tough one, kelli. I believe I've never had a chain snap on me - not even in the glory days of my bicycling when I did 3000+ km a year just in transport. Branches, chickenwire, other stuff caught in the chain or rear derailleur, yes. Chain jumping off lowest or highest gear wheel front or back (and the latter is a real nuisance), yes. But always fixable at the cost of oiled and dirty fingers.

Oh, and never with two kids with me, too. So I'm surely with Yar in feeling the pain and wet of your ordeal.

I agree with Yar Kramer about the relaxing side of bicycle ownership, I just wish I ended up wet less often at the moment...

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I've not cycled for years, I don't even own one. I should really, then me K and could go out and get fitter.

As a Mancunian I have just found this rather smiley - laugh:

It relates to a rather more serious story on the Beeb:

However, it's still very much a truism smiley - rofl

The last bicycle that I owned, a sturdy multi-speed affair. Good intentions didn't last long, the sheer humidity we get here through the summer, the bike rested so long that the tires developed sun-rot ...

But a teen-lad of a friend has got very good use of it since. smiley - smiley

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

I've ridden more this year than last, not hard to accomplish though.

Getting soaked really isn't fun.

I'm off to watch t20 cricket at Trent Bridge tonight with G, looking forward to it.

Haven't ridden a bike for several years now.

Bravo Greensleves

I spotted that on the news website Lil

I'd gone on it to find out if the cricket did restart: Went to watch Notts v Leicetershire in the twenty20, Nottingham completed their innings, but it was rained off after the interval, so no result smiley - sadface We went about 8pm when further play was starting to look very unlikely.
