Another hot dry day looms. I did my sunbathing at 8:30, and in another hour I'll be closing up the house to keep it cooler.

I've been staying inside the last couple of days. It's been hot and dry, conditions that don't agree with me.

We've been quite gloomy today.

The weather's been faffing about in the 60s over here in NH. I kept going "June, you incompetent month!"

A hot sunny Sunday with the air smelling of barbecues and freshly mown grass.
Phil and I have been busy this weekend working at the first ever Manchester cider and perry festival. There's always plenty of real ale festivals around with a side bar for ciders but it's been nice to have the whole thing dedicated to cider and perry for a change, no beer anywhere on site. I think it's been enough of a success to do it again next year (thanks to Phil and the rest of the organsiers, you did a good job)

Off to ring Kindle support and see what they suggest to fix my broken kindle. I've only had it a couple of months but feel a real sense of loss at having to go back to old technology paper books. And that from someone who loves books and never thought I'd be interested in switching to ebooks. Apologies to our librarians who may be twitching at the mere thought of virtual page turning.

Two things:
1. the picture that accompanies the article in Witty's link is not the tintype of Billy! It's one of the many illustrations derived from a newspaper print dating back to 1900.

2. The photo is now in the possession of one of the two brothers bankrolling the Tea Party movement in American politics; they are in the top 10 of the richest people in the world.

3. I wish the hootoo article about arabian horses was not illustrated by a photo of somebody's pet horse standing, ungroomed, in a pasture.

Mrs Eats loves her Kindle too. I'm reading books on my iPhone, but that's just a stop-gap until I persuade Mrs Eats to let me buy an iPad....... slap, Ouch!

My phone makes voice calls, and even sometimes answers some. Reading from it?

I'm quite comfortable reading on my iPod Touch, thank you very much! I'd really like a Kindle, however I don't need to cart around another single use device, and while they do have wifi and 3G ereaders, I'm too much of a net junkie to settle for anything less that a full browsing experience.

Finally getting in the 70+F reliably. Soon, I'll be wishing it was cooler in another 6 weeks or so...never Just Right.

with the job placement, Lil! I'm starting to follow up on that possibility, too.

We're just under 70F here. High tomorrow is supposed to be a very cool 84F.

I think I survived a weekend of organising people to sell cider and setting up and taking it all down again - though I'm off into the city centre to finish it all off today. Having no beer on site did put some peoples nose out of joint but what part of cider and perry festival mentions beer?

Today is going to be another hot and sunny one. If it happened for more than two or three days at a time every couple of months then perhaps I might get used to it, otherwise I'll try not to melt.
