d'E, no need for such drastic measures. Where we live there is an upland blanket bog just a few fields over from the garden. Lots of rain and an acid soil, we got 'em

I talked with Titania on IM last night. She still has problems with her insomnia and that causes quite some mess and also inability to face the backlog. I suggested her to ask help from a but she said it's not *that* bad. I hope she can hibernate soon as the weather in this part of the world is quite
.

I refuse to do any x-massy things at home before the 10th of december - except count-down calenders and candles if the children insists
When they were smaller there was x-mas-events in kindergarden, in school and at all sports and cultural activities - not to speak of all the shops, stores, supermarkets and-what-have-you. Far too much for kids, really (and parents especially). They get wound up and over-filled and cannot enjoy the joy and fun in the family.
Our main subject is to gather the family and play.

Titania, if you are reading this remember I owe you a backlog pass from the last time we played the game with the subject lines.

Hypatia Posted Nov 12, 2004
Things are not going well. F has a blood clot in his leg again - can't use the drugs to dissolve them because he's allergic to them. He had another heart attack yesterday and is unresponsive. No need to worry about how to pay for a nursing home apparently. One doctor told me not to give up hope and I wanted to ask him what I was supposed to hope for - that he dies peacefully or that he survives to live like a vegetable?
His cardiologist is more practical. And we've been with him long enough for him to know I appreciate him just being honest. He should have died 8 years ago. Then he sure should have died 2 years ago when he had the valve surgery. Anyway, we agreed that F has gotten 8 extra years and that's not bad.
Now, for the good news! I found a hairdresser who not only gave me a decent haircut, she didn't chatter endlessly. A true gem.

Hyp, you seem to be coping with this so well, and we are always here for you if you need us
Great news about the hairdresser though

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Nov 12, 2004
We generally put our tree up about a week after Thanksgiving. Not sure where we will put the tree this year as the kids are currently sleeping in the livingroom while work is done on their bedrooms.

Sometimes the xmas decerations in the city centre here have gone up September/October time, I'm pretty sure. That just feels...wrong! December 1st is traditional in this house. Feels nice. Let's you savour the atmosphere for awhile. That's one of the main appeals of xmas, I think - that giddy with anticipation feeling everyone gets and when you step outside the house and the chill is just right, with a bit of sunshine overhead
sitting at the bar with a mate and talking whatever over a pint of bitter for the evening
yeah, good times!

I stopped having a tree when cats entered my life. But I did a little Christmas shopping yesterday -- only because I happened to be in that part of town. As Mike knows, in my part of the world one doesn't nip round to the shops.
