I'll be away for about a week, but I insist that you all remain welcome and keep the bots on their toes. It will be nice to have a few LED's, a few I tell you! *ahem* It will be nice to have a few LED's of backlog to read when I get back.
Perhaps Affi and Garius can be persuaded to contribute some interesting fireworks to the 4th July.
I shall be at the beach, redesigning my web site on the Road Warrior during what may be a rainy weekend (but that's all right) and contemplating coming events.
Meanwhile, everyone please make yourselves at home, as you always do.

Matina, a dozen beers and a skyrocket to celebrate the opening of a new thread please.

And if it is no trouble, a case of corona and a roman candle for me.
Have fun at the beach, as always you will be missed. I forget, are you anywhere near Jacksonville? I think that I am going to erase that town off the map the next time I have to deal with them.

So you're not just going to paint it red then, Marv..
Congratulations to Gw7en!
Ah yes, a and a would be nice, thank you.

Passes through before legging it to work as he will now be late due to popping into hootoo, such is the life of an addict

Whew, glad I left a caling card when I did, the other day. What a trawl of backlog. I would estimate it at well over 1200 posts.
Only taken me 4 days
Glad to meet the new people, and again, congrats to Gw7en.
Looks like I have missed Lil's departure after all Oh well.
OP, thanks for noticing i was back. Holiday was good, but very hot, with 2 days of thunderstorms and torrential downpours. (much like here just now )
Not much to say. Will eventually get around to writing a summary of the hol, but not just now. Things at w**k have taken a nasty turn for the worse. I go onto 12 hour shifts as of 10th July. This means a lot of commitments previously arranged to enhance my out of work life have now had to be canned. Life can really suck sometimes.
[b17 for now]

Another new conversation!
T, I think I've heard something about that fellow you posted a link about in the previous. It's good that some people in the science establishment are following up his claims about organo-phosphates and spongiform diseases (and the other ideas he's had since then).
At least you had a good holiday B-17, even if work isn't so good

*Walks in.*
Lil's gone already? Oh fiddlesticks.
Ah yes, welcome back B-17! Glad you had a good holiday!
Everyone, I've just started a new weekly column for The Post called 'Ask Prof'. The idea behind it is very difficult to explain, but put simply I answer e-mails.
You should all go and read it (it's a humorous column), and e-mail questions if you like, so the column will be a success!

*very bleary-eyed*
Mr. Inspector has just left, and I think it went pretty well, no surprises. Babel, nice to see you back and sorry it's back to shift work. Sounds like it's almost as bad as being a trauma doctor! Marv, I'm not going to Jacksonville, I'm going to Sebastian, which is south of Melbourne and the Space Coast. It's a protected area, very quiet, nesting site for loggerhead turtles.
Chris, I'll check the column out when I get back, unless by some remote chance my hotel room as a data port.
See you all next Friday the 6th!

*pops her head in rather shyly and has a good look round, then quietly sits in a comfortable corner, contemplating the mindnumbing abyss of backlog she could wade through*
*shivering slightly, steels herself*

Morning all!
A moment of silence for the late, great Jack Lemmon...
*hangs head*
OK, now back to happier news.
We handed over the earnest payment last night after work, just as I said we were going to. Now we get to schedule inspections, assessments, etc.
Prof, I look forward to your new column! Sounds like just the thing to read right now. How goes the demolition?
Sorry to keep you dancing yesterday, Arl. But thank you for dancing with me.
Welcome back, B-17! Good to see your happy post.
Matina, some tea please. No caffeine today though - I'm jittery enough as it is, even virtual caffeine would probably do me in.

Welcome, Timory!
Can we offer you anything to eat or drink? Matina (the maid bot) does wonders with baked goods and tea.

*Glad he didn't quite miss Lil.*
Toodlepip, Lil! Hope you have a nice journey.
By the time you reach a data port there'll be a second edition of my column.
Demolition's going very well indeed, G7. Um, well, from an overall perspective, that is. The main wall (not supporting) is completely gone, bar a few bits of wood reaching high into the ceiling, and all the tiles are off. The reason I don't say it's going very well from /my/ perspective is because I've been left to clean up after them.
Still, it's rather fun throwing bits of plaster out of the window and into the tip below.
Sounds like your house-related antics are going very well.
Good day to you, Timory! Glad you could join us.
Alas, Jack Lemmon. I only saw him in 'Some Like It Hot', but he really was great in it!

Welcome Timory! Make yourself at home.
Lil, enjoy your time away and good luck with this round of negotiations.
RE Work, I just found out that Unisys will be hiring in a couple of months. Perhaps I should bo get my CCNA next month just so I have that taken care of. A change of pace and scenery would be welcome. I read an article yesterday that said how stressfull TAC (my department of the Borg) is on employees. I tend to agree.
Ah well.

Is Unisys near where you are or would it be a relocation Marv?
