Diet? No, I don't have a diet version yet, but...

....I can make one.

I'd order some Affy, but you would need to send a helicopter to deliver it smiley - winkeye

Everyone empathises with Foster (it is foster isn't it?), pushing the rock up the hill while being stoned and goaded. It's part of what makes a human human rather than replicant...

Sorry to hear it's not going too well for you B17. Can you not get them to change your shifts if they want you to go down to Reading?

Basically, they want me to go down and do a Backshift, since the box in question will be running Month End Batch and they want me to look at it, see what happens, Look at their documentation, see what work they carry out and how easily it will mesh with our existing batch load. My only problem is that it currently runs on an AS/400 and they plan on running it on an RS/6000 up here. Essentially shouldn't be a problem, but since I spent 2.5 hours last night on a problem based on a system which this new one sounds awfully like it is going to become, I am not filled with much confidence. And as I said , I have never done anything like this before. Bleugh. Going to have some lunch and see if i can get my head round this.

I'm sorry to hear about the whole Reading thing, B17. Sounds unpleasant at the very least. smiley - sadface Ah well, as someone used to say this too shall pass. smiley - hug

I've been assured by my visit to the website of the homebuilders we are currently considering that certain personalization on the exterior is allowed. Today, after work, we will be going back to the physical office (they were closed yesterday for some reason) and we will see if that was just a clever rouse...

Matina, tea and a scone please. Thank you. smiley - smiley

I think my flat qualifies as a character property. It still has the servants bells in place - although they don't work and my flatmate probably wouldn't come running anyway. It also has stained glass windows and is above a Funeral Directors for that added "atmosphere"! smiley - ghost

It sounds lovely, Amy! Especially the stained glass! smiley - bigeyes Ours is fairly normal, except for the fireplace, which I love. Whatever house we move into will have to have a fireplace, I've decided. smiley - smiley

A big character of the house I live in is the crack running up a wall by the staircase.

Babel, you are evidently good at what you do and rare amongst your job category fellows, or you wouldn't get stuck with such an icky mission. What you need is a nice fat slice of Bee-Bop-a-Re-Bop Rhubarb Pie.

Located a fellow today who will groom the outside parts of the property, what's left of the lawn and so forth. At least my lawn doesn't look any worse than most of the others in the subdivision, except for the water pirate across the street. Everyone else has parched, brown patchy grass except for him; his lawn is a furry emerald. If they institute water police in this county (and it will probably happen), he'll be facing 4-figure fines.

Affi, I think you could depend on boredom to get Sysiphus up and moving. Have you ever read Camus' _Myth of Sysiphus_? He ties the story in with his rather gloomy take on existentialism and concludes the Sysiphus not only needs that rock but likes it.

Camus died before he could get a middle-aged perspective on life.

Lil! Are you a fellow Garreison Keillor fan, and I've just never realized it? I think you're quite right about needing that Bee-Bop-A-Ree-Bop Rhubarb Pie. I saw him do one of those sketches live, once....ah, the memories....

*A few ominous looking smoke clouds come from the kitchen, accompanied by sounds of several blenders*

That diet soda is coming along fine, everyone! Just gimme a few more posts!

Quite surprised they picked me actually. (perhaps it's because they know I want out of here smiley - winkeye) But as you say, nice to get out and do something different. Having spoken to one of my managers, it may not be as bad as it seemed at first. I suppose it will all depend on what I find when I'm down there. *sigh* Looks like I will be making phonecalls tomorrow from home, to try and sort this out. Tho, why should I use my time and money for their work? The worst bit is, even if I do have time on my hands, I have no internet access! smiley - yikes

I understand! I personally just want to move out of the office right now. They have, once again, turned off all fans and - apparently - closed all vents, so its getting rather hot and stuffy in here right now. Not a particularly comfortable situation under normal circumstances, but we also have several people who seem to believe that bathing is optional... smiley - tongueout

What ho, all! smiley - smiley

Can't stay long - w*rk to finish off...

Getting back to character in a house, our house does have some of the 'good' character in it. Unfortunately though, the extension built in the 70s doesn't blend in with it at all, and just makes all the errors and faults in the house stand out.
The good character though is still quite prominent. Leaded windows always add charm to a house, as well as its heritage. We were handed all the papers that went with this house over the years, and found /so many/ old documents! I've haven't read through them yet, but there's some terribly interesting history in just this very area. smiley - smiley

Had our first big assembly on the GCSE's today. God only knows why we had to sit there though, because right at the start they told us we'd all be getting it on paper anyway! smiley - grrsmiley - winkeye
