A new thread, so one doesn't have to w*rk too hard clicking through the old posts.

Try this link if the recruitment thread is giving you more w*rk than you care for.
http://www.h2g2.com/FLR36347?thread=45246&skip=0&show=1024
By changing the &skip value and the &show value you can customize how you want to view the thread. The &skip value tells you how many messages to skip past and the &show value sets the max number of messages in the thread to view at once. This little trick will work for any forum by just copying the link and changing the values, would be nice if they would let you set these numbers as user defined preferences.

Yes, I found this little trick out right after I created the new thread.

I still prefer the old system of loading everything at once, though. Don't want to do too much if we're weekenders, do we?
Weekendism II
Archangel Big 'Evil' Dan Posted Jun 9, 2000
Yes, I really want them to make the amount of posts loaded a preference you can set. My connection can handle it!

I got this e-mail today...thought it was important...
There is a new virus going around called WORK. If you receive any
sort of WORK, whether via e-mail, Internet, or simply handed to you
by a colleague, do not open it. Those who have opened WORK have
found that their social life is deleted and their brain ceases to
function properly.
If you do encounter WORK via e-mail or are faced with any WORK at
all, purge the virus by sending an e-mail to your boss with the
words 'This is too much for me, I'm going out for a soda. This
better not be here when I get back.'
Your brain should automatically delete the WORK. If you receive WORK
in paper document form, simply lift the document and drag the WORK
to your trash can.
Send this message to all your friends in your address book. If you
do not have anyone in your address book, then the WORK virus has
already corrupted your life!
Received from (the infamous) Trey Nolen.

Well, it appears I ended up not telling the truth when I said I would be putting links to forums with the &show=1024 at the end. I've found it far easier to copy &show=1024 to the clipboard and paste it to the end of the URL after the page has loaded. Since I usually have 8 to 10 forums opened up at once the first one is done loading up all the messages by the time I get done pasting to the last URL. Ah well, chalk it up to yet another avoidance of w*rk.

About the new skin, I really cannot bring myself to use it as I've grown quite fond of being able to read what I'm trying to. The light colors on a light background on a small monitor are a bit hard on the eyes, especialy at a resolution of 1024x768 or greater. Undoubtedly I could write a workaround for this but it does seem like quite an aweful lot of w*rk just to make use of something new when the old version seems fine to me.

I like the classic goo - much nicer.
H2G2 isn't H2G2 if it isn't Blue.

I admit, I've switched over. It doesn't look nearly as nice, but I find things are positioned in much better places. With all the fora I have participated in on the left side, it saves me the w*rk of scrolling down, and I can get "Who's Online" anywhere I want. Now if they had this type of thing in Classic, I would be really happy.

I must get around to having a look at the new system one of these days... Too much hard work, I fear.

This Religion is everything I could ever want! Long Live Weekends! Death to wrk! How do I convert?
Weekendism II
Archangel Big 'Evil' Dan Posted Jun 10, 2000
How do you convert? You just ask, really.
Just as long as you swear to avoid w*rk at all costs, you are welcome here, Frood.
